In TVD, my favourite female character is Bonnie. But I don't dislike Elena. I think she was a kind and compassionate person. But she cheated on Stefan when he was not there. That's not good. In my opinion, that's Elena's only questionable action. But may be it had something to do with the fact that she was a vampire at that time. Probably that's why she felt attracted to Damon's dangerousness immensely. Being a dangerous creature herself, she felt drawn towards Stefan's elder brother because he was much more dangerous than Stefan. In TVD, Damon said that the emotions became heightened and more intense after becoming a vampire. So, her desires became stronger because of that. I'm not justifying cheating. It's just my interpretation. Also, I think vampires, werewolves, monsters, demons don't follow human values. So, they behave differently from human beings.
Yeah, I'd never liked it either, how Delena had its foundation in a cheating scenario, sort of. But teenager me was obsessed with Damon (and also, Ian Somerhalder's face, his eyes and his smirk 🙈🤭)
Honestly, Delena were toxic together, there's no denying that. Elena herself said it, I don't remember the quote anymore but it was like he brought out the worst in her and she should hate him but she loves him instead. I loved that confession bcz it was so real and raw and true to their characters. And ofc the kiss that followed... I mean, Delena chemistry was always 🔥🔥
My favourites were Bonnie and Caroline. I loved Bonnie from beginning to end, but Caroline's character arc was just amazing. Out of all of them, she was the one who really was the best at being a vampire, handling her emotions, and even the best one when they turned off emotions. She didn't get destructive, she just got snappy and a bit selfish. God, I loved her and Klaus sm 😭❤️
Honestly though, Originals was probably an even better show than TVD. I was aching at that time that Klaus was being paired up with other ppl, but apart from that it really was good. Not many other shows have such well-crafted, succesful spinoffs.
