Chivalry is dead?

so I feel chivalry is basically dead. new-age men know how to flirt, but forget that what wins a woman's heart over is old-fashioned manners such as opening doors, offering to carry heavy objects, or paying for dinner....

Do you guys miss the good old' chivalrous days?

I am saying this because I went on a date recently and the guy was like let's split the bill at this very expensive restaurant he had chosen. Of course, I didn't mind that as I would have offered the same myself but I do feel he shouldn't have said it.

Needless to say, I'm not meeting him again.

What do you guys feel? Is chivalry an outdated concept or do you miss those days when men used to wine and dine women?

Recently, there was an uproar when Hrithik was seen holding Saba's slippers. I think such things have become so unusual that even small acts of chivalry are dissected.

Funny this came up b/c just last night I was having a talk about this very same thing with a close friend!!

JUST on the 1st date, just on the 1st date if the other party, esp the man, let’s me pay the bill with ease… There won’t be a 2nd date with me. Simple.

On the 2nd date etc I’ll definitely INSIST on going Dutch but on that 1st date? Massive instant turnoff if he doesn’t ATLEAST offer to pay!!!

And when he invited you & asked you out on the date, he really should’ve been the one to pay. Simple.

ETA for Minty: When I was unemployed & went on a date with my now partner & I was whining about how expensive things are, how I’ve very expensive tastes etc (it was context of a conversation) and how I love good food etc… The date ended & this mothertrucker turns to me & says, “shall we go?” And I looked at him in pure confusion b/c like, we’ve to pay the bill, does he want me to wash the dishes now, lmaoo.

Turns out this mother trucker had gone quietly to pay the bill when I had gone to the washroom!! Now it’s a very simple gesture, but I was so touched.

^^ Lovely to see all the stories here, we're so blessed and it shows the nice guys DO get the ladies 🥺

My fiance and me went sort of halves on our first date (I am Dutch but that wasn't the reason 🤣). We met in a foreign country and he paid for my hotel room so I felt like I needed to pay for dinner, he did offer to pay for dinner but I declined. And then he paid for the taxi back to the airport as well. I think over time ever since he fell in love with me he insists on paying at most places lol. Also, for once I met a guy that was a gentleman through and through.. opening doors, not EVER letting me carry anything or even my parents, walking on the right side of the pavement, asking me if he needs to get me pads when I am dying of period cramps etc...

For someone who hasnt ever dated any guy my opinion is as good as invalid but here we go

Considering I dont go on opening doors for other guys or paying for their dinner I think I am good if he doesnt do it as well... I would definitely prefer a guy who says 'let's split the bill' because that would feel normal to me

I don’t expect chivalry. I expect mutual respect. But when chivalry does occur, it’s an icing on the cake.

I don’t believe in splitting the bill. If I’m out with someone, even if it’s a friend, we will fight to the point of death over the bill. That’s how I am and therefore I will never be attracted to a man who wants to split the bill. My personal ick. 🤷🏽‍♀️
