Abhishek may be willing to do it but his sexist parents and sister will never tolerate it.

The way Amitabh tweeted about his recent award shows how much pressure Abhishek still has to succeed or carry dad's legacy or make him proud.

The jokes about Amitabh still working because no one else earns as much as him in family or his son being nikamma, only make it more difficult for Abhishek who is also bashed for living off fame or earning of wife or routinely told he would never get a wife like Ash if he was not Amitabh's son.

Abhishek himself is classic example of a man victim of patriarchy and toxic expectations to do same work as dad does or surpass dad or carry so called family legacy.

I agree with all of you ! It’s obvious that Ash has consciously taken a backseat so that she doesn’t overshadow Abhishek.

If I had to venture a guess Ash became so distant publicly once Shwetha and Co moved full time to Mumbai.

It could be that Ash and Swetha don’t get along and the Bachchans clearly want to side with their daughter. Ash isn’t social media savvy but Swetha is and she doesn’t even follow Ash and honestly acts as if Ash doesn’t even exist. That’s so sad for Ash.

But I also feel that Ash and Abhi do love each other. Ash just seems like she wants to see her husband shine even at the expense of her own career.

I know that she is “The Aishwarya Rai” but also am sad that she has literally given up her career . Ash still has so much in her . Miss her on screen.

And the fact that Abhishek totally failed in profession also adds insult to injury. He is already burdened with comparisons with dad and mom. Some comedians joking that Amitabh's biggest achievement in life was Aishwarya Rai or that Abhishek has no identity except wife and father, seem to have pissed off Bachchans more or put more pressure on Ash to dim her shine or step back.

Years back at Cannes she was asked why she’s not on SM and she said something like how she doesn’t like or want the number game in her own family . Sounded so bizarre at that time but makes complete sense now. It’s been happening for a while l only made obvious to common plebs like us I’m the last few years.

Like his family , he has stopped promoting his wife’s work. Last few years, he just tweets out a poster or her film’s release ( opposed to how he used to gush over her pics, wrote cheesy captions etc ). On PS 1 release date, he put out a fake, fan made poster of PS1. When trolled, he removed it and put up the original poster with Aishwarya’s name spelt wrong. Then he deleted that too and didn’t bother putting up anything.
People called him out for not doing the bare minimum or his lack of interest in his wife’s career. The fan made poster had image of Ash from Jodha Akbar. You’d think that if fans could make that out m her husband surely could.
Or he personally did not bother and just asked his team to that on his behalf. Again, as bad as the first scenario.

Ash knew she would have way more followers than any Bachchan if she joined SM and would trump them in all SM power and popularity lists. So no surprise she made number game comment.

It was evident from day one when marriage was fixed what would be fate of Ash. Given ones who knew what became of Jaya after marriage to AB and how Jaya herself walked out of theatre when she saw Ash' sensuous scenea with Hrithik in Jodha Akbar and Dhoom 2 or how she gushed that Ash is quiet, she listens and stands behind or the way they made her do totke and upay in public and Amitabh called her domesticated and they made Ash touch Abhishek's feet at their wedding, it was clear where it was headed.

Bachchan family is a typical UP based family. I mean conservative North Indian style, old school types. Earlier Jaya used to put pallu on head in pics with family in 80s for media. I am surprised they let Ash work even as much as she managed to work after marriage and did not get her to wear pallu on head. Though in 2007 when Ash attended ground breaking ceremony of a college in her name in UP, she did put pallu on her head. Amusingly that college was also never made.

I would say even Ash working as much as she did after marriage or moving without pallu or huge sindoor and bindi on head and forehead or huge mangalsutra is surprising for a typical Bachchan bahurani.
