The Bachchan's cold shoulder towards Aishwarya Rai

I am starting this thread, because the was a conversation about Aish relationship with her in laws was started in the Ponniyin Selvan: Part-1 Reviews and box office (Hindi) thread, and it was clogging the thread and thought why not start a thread to discuss her weird dynamics with her in laws, and how unsupportive they towards her.

There was some podcast recently with Shweta, Navya and Jaya and it was jarring to see them repeatedly talk about their family and never once mentioning either Ash or even Aaradhya. Jaya talks about whether they discuss films and she says “ when Abhishek started acting and now with Agastya …” I was like..what ? Did you completely forget Aishwarya here ? They don’t even acknowledge her as an actor.

Forget the family her own husband doesn’t give a shit . No support, not a word from him. People were trolling him for not supporting the film and on the day of the release, he posted a photoshopped image of the film with Aishwarya ‘s name spelt wrong. Like he didn’t even bother to proofread what he found on a simple google search. And the whole family keeps sitting on SM 24*7 promoting everything under the sun. Q

ETA - Didn’t see your post about the podcast. Yeah, that was so obvious. At this point I think most people know there are some serious issues there.

I think it is an issue. Amitabh is literally sending flowers and personalized notes and rewards to everyone who delivers a strong performance, it's definitely strange that he is not acknowledging or supporting his own DIL's massive film release.

They are definitely insecure about their son and maybe even their daughter who has achieved nothing in life.

Ash also looks quite unhappy and dim to me. She's not one to "suffer" so I am not sure what the real story is, but perhaps she needs to walk away from this awful family

Aishwarya working more and doing really well will only help Abhishek. She will be gaining more of a following. Becoming a trend. Him being seen with her in public will only get him more buzz. He got invited to Oprah because of her.

If I were the Bachchans they should let Aish take every opportunity she is getting. She is the only one after Big B that can keep their fame going.

For me the weirdest part is Jaya, Shweta and Navya went to a podcast discussed their family dynamics and excluded Aish like she doesn't exist. Shweta doesn't even pretend. Aish made a mistake by not putting her foot down as a newlywed and refused to live with her in laws.

They are insecure of her.. ALL of them, and I include Abhishek in this. Initially I used to think he was not like AB Sr, Jaya and Shweta, but I later realized he too is like them. There are many instances where I observed this. Earlier he wasn't like this, the time he married Ash, he was pretty successful, so he used to really support Ash's success too - this was the time he would accompany Ash to international platforms like Cannes, Oprah show, Oscars etc.

But after Raavan bombed, I thought something changed in him. While Raavan flopped, its Tamil version starring Ash and Vikram was a hit. It was the ultimate rejection... that people didn't reject the content, they rejected him. And after that, he stopped being supportive to Ash.. he stopped going to Cannes (he wen to Cannes every year with Ash from 2007, 08, 09 and 10, and stopped going after the 2010, the year Raavan released).

Ash had got the ultimate offer to star opposite SRK in Happy New Year as her comeback film. Imagine that kind of commercial role in a potential blockbuster... but since Abhishek wasn't cast opposite her but SRK, he couldn't stand it and she had to lose that offer. Imagine, Abhishek was just playing a second fiddle and not even the lead role). This is not the first time something like this happened; she had to bow out of Dostana as well because of Abhishek.

Ash rejected the leading role in Hollywood hit Hancock opposite Will Smith because just before the film was about to roll, Abhishek's grandmother Teji Bachchan passed away. He never made such sacrifices for her though..

After Aaradhya was born, Ash stayed away from limelight for 5 years. Abhishek was already shooting for films in outdoor schedules when Aaradhya was all of 2 months old...

There are many more such examples I can give...

BOTTOM LINE: Ash is too good for Bachchans, but now with Aaradhya in her life, she is her ultimate priority and she doesn't give a fuck about their family.

Amitabh keeps writing letters of appreciation to every tom, dick and harry who has done decently well.

Aishwarya's latest release PS-1 already grossed 225 crores in just three days. It's one of the biggest hits in Indian cinema, and she has received rave reviews for the film. But notice the absolute silence from him. And he retweets hundreds of tweets about Abhishek when he hasn't achieved 1% of this success. Disgusting buddah 🤢

Here is what I have heard. Correct me if I am wrong. The Bachchan family provided Aish with a lot of protection. During the Salman Khan fiasco Aish is family use to have a lot meetings with the Thacherays because they were genuinely all scared for their lives. The Bachchans are so politically connected that they guaranteed the entire Rai family safety.

I do think there's an issue with Shweta. Years ago there was a video of both Ash and Shweta on a red carpet and you can see the tension. I wish I could find the video but there was one red carpet event where Ash tries to be friendly but Shweta clearly blows her off. I think at one point Shweta says something angry to her and you could see Ash's discomfort. So we have no idea what's caused the issues between them. Shweta was Abhishek's best friend so when you add a new wife into the home that often causes issues between the women.

I had never heard anything like that. I know Amitabh helped Ash when she was hurt on the set of Khakee but never heard they were involved in the Salman stuff. If anything they are too friendly with Salman which to me is very disrespectful towards Ash.

I am sad that Ash allows this to happen. She has so much potential to do better. It’s still not too late, I hope somehow she realizes.

Even if she does not want to act… there is so much else she can do. I really hope she finds the light again. She didn’t work this hard just to be someone’s wife or a silent daughter in law
