Is Size 0 the new trend in Bollywood heroines?

There was a time in the 90's when the heroines were curvy, rather than skinny. Apart from say a Sonali Bendre, most of them looked healthy and not ultra-thin.

Refresh to now, and most of them look like skeletons. I'm not trying to body shame them, that's not the purpose of this post. But there does seem to be trend to be ultra-skinny.

Do you think it sends out wrong messages to the youth?

The only one whom I find to look slim and yet voluptuous is Janhvi, surprisingly enough. She doesn't have that malnourished look.

It was a trend a decade ago, not now. Younger people tend to be skinnier by default so no point talking about girls like Ananya or Tara. That is just their natural body.

Most of the older actresses are all chubby - Kareena, Priyanka, Kajol, Rani, Aishwarya - all of them have extra weight.

Only Deepika and Anushka are very slim.

Not entirely true, I know a lot of girls in their 20's who are naturally slim but don't look malnourished like Ananya or Tara.

Nope.

Let's not kid ourselves, being "skinny" has been the trend for GENERATIONS. It's nothing new. Are we forgetting "cocaine chic" of the 90s? Whenever an actress put on weight, the media would make fun of them (see when Madhuri and Sridevi were pushing 30).

Right now, I don't see a craze for skinny as much as a craze for FITNESS. Never before in the history of time has fitness and health been more prominent.

Look at ALL the girlies on Instagram whether it's Katrina or Deepika or Alia or Kriti - they are all posting about health and fitness.

It is a good thing. Of course there are always going to be cases of eating disorders and body dysmorphia - and we need to work to challenge these issues. But from where I'm sitting, I see body positivity being the trend of today.

Deepika and Anushka are like 5’10” and it’s very common for tall girls to look skinny. It’s very hard to show the fat on such a tall body.

I don't know but I don't see such a craze for fitness outside Bollywood. I see girls in their 20's and 30's eating normally and taking a walk daily, but not being obsessed with their bodies.

I don't know if being skinny can be body positive. A little bit of flesh looks good on a woman.
