Payal found out the truth by chance when she saw him speaking on a show on television. So he actually didn't guilt trip her to stay with him. And Payal was anyway ready to forgive him even after knowing his truth that he could speak (before knowing that he had sliced off his tongue).

I think Sunder didn't want to tell Payal the truth, because whether she had forgiven him or punished him, it would've hurt her alot no matter what. She might have lost her belief in love or stopped trusting people after that. So he decided to suffer alone without making Payal go through any trauma.

SmittenKitten has summed everything up perfectly and it's exactly how I feel about the movie.

How is it better that Sundar never planned to tell Payal the truth? Isn't that worse that he was ready to perpetuate the lie till the end of time? Sundar's logic was effed up either way. Who cares if she lost her belief in love? Who is he to decide for her? Who is he to make assumptions about the outcome? Do you remember the movie Shabd? In it the writer, Shauqat truly believed that after finding out the truth about Antara, Yash would commit suicide. The writer believed that he could control their lives and rewrite their fates. Shauqat assumed that Yash would take such a drastic step but he didn't. Who's to say that Payal wouldn't have lost her belief in love or trust in people? How could Sundar be so sure? Maybe at that point she would have lost trust (rightly so) but time would heal her wounds from that lie. She would have moved on. She had a support system. People move on. Sundar was just like Shauqat, he was controlling and unstable.

If I were in her place I was have ran off at the speed of light. Sundar got Payal in the end even after all his lies and psychopathy. Do you realize how traumatic that is knowing that someone self-harmed for you? It eats away at that person. They feel guilt for no fault of their own. Payal was a victim and she would have stayed a victim her entire life. Even if Sundar didn't want to tell her, she still found out. She would have found out some day. These things cannot be hidden forever especially a lie as big as that.

But I honestly think the girl doesn't even necessarily need to lose feelings for him in the movie to convey the message that lying is wrong. That's such a simple concept that everyone knows and understands but it's human nature to want to put your best face on and try to impress your crush with little white fibs. Him coming to a realization and letting go of her would have been sufficient enough.

Rani has featured in some really whack movies... there's Raja ki aayegi Baraat where she spends the entire movie trying to win over her rapist. And here, the guy literally cuts his tongue off for stretching a lie further than he should have.

@bold that literally was the worst movie ever made , what the hell were writers thinking while writing that shit

I have never heard of the movie but ending was so toxic like wtf he cut off his tongue and now the girl wont even think about leaving him .. like this is how some people trap their partners they talk about self harming themselves or does it and out of guilt the partner stays with them

Ugh! Like this man beat and raped her, attempted to kill her, his family tortured her and tried to kill her and she still falls in love with him. The guy's "punishment" was to marry Rani instead of being locked up. Like is this a punishment for the man or the victim? If it was such a problem that no one was going to marry her then she could've moved to another city or another country.

"Marry your rapist" was a law in many countries ... and still is, I believe. It's disgusting. 🤢

This movie was so depressing. I don’t ever wanna think about it to be honest. I watched it as a child and then saw it again a few years ago and it traumatized me again. Sundar’s naivety broke my heart. Maybe I’m too sensitive. But yes, the title song is amazing❤️ There’a another song by Hariharan called Deewane Dil Ne Humko and it’s also very beautiful.

Watched this movie as a kid thinking it would be one of Govinda-Rani comedies. It was just confusing and sad. And traumatising.

I used to wonder why someone like Rani was doing these silly movies with Govinda! Other than HKDA, the others were bad!

Then surprise surprise, they were together and doing these films was a way to spend time together.

In this movie, she looks lovely...very pretty and demure in those two songs!

And worse of all, they actually made Rani provoke the judge to ask her rapist to marry her.. Because otherwise the judge was ready to give him a jail sentence.. But oh no.. Rani went on a full tirade as to how this wouldn't do her any good and her life is destroyed as no one would marry her
