Flashback to 2002: Why did Abhishek and Karisma break up?

I remember thinking they used to look so madly in love with each other, and so beautifully compatible. The same year, a movie of theirs came out, their first and last movie together, Haan Miane Bhi pyaar Kiya.

Then October 2002, and reports came in that they had broken off their engagement. I have read various conspiracy theories on the same but can anyone explain why they broke up?

I loved their first and last movie it's such a classic even today and their songs are memorable still !

Ok now regarding their pair at first i wasn't that impressed but then thought ok if their in love then it's great...It was a big event at amitabhs 60th birthday to introduce karishma as the bahu and they all looked very happy especially jaya mentioning her as her daughter in law.

Their breakup was so shocking..but i mostly read that inside sources mentioned babita was the main reason as she was fully focused in the wealth aspect for her daughters i heard she wanted amitabh to put karishmas name in his property and shares so that didn't go down too well with the bachchans and then the wedding was called off and that was the end.

I heard that was the reason she got separated from her lazy, ambition less husband too... She must’ve struggled with two kids and no proper financial support (Was she supported by actor Ranjit, don’t know if it’s tue)
