Raj Kundra, husband of actress Shilpa Shetty, is under scrutiny again, this time in connection with an alleged Rs 60 crore fraud. He is expected to appear before Mumbai's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) today after previous summons. The agency has also issued a lookout notice against both Kundra and Shetty, restricting their travel.

Businessman Deepak Kothari's complaint led the EOW to register a case in August 2025 against Raj Kundra, Shilpa Shetty, and another individual. Kothari alleges he was defrauded of over Rs 60 crore in a loan-investment deal associated with their defunct company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd. He claims the funds, invested between 2015 and 2023 for business growth, were misappropriated for personal use. The EOW is currently probing these accusations.

Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra have denied the allegations. Their lawyer, Prashant Patil, has labeled the accusations as "baseless and malicious," asserting the matter is civil and already addressed by the NCLT. The couple maintains their innocence amidst the ongoing scrutiny.

"This is an old transaction, wherein the company went into financial distress and eventually got entangled in a long legal battle at the NCLT. There is no criminality involved, and our auditors have submitted all the necessary supporting documents from time to time, as requested by the EOW, including detailed cash flow statements," Patil said.

He added, "The investment agreement in question is purely in the nature of an equity investment. The company has already received a liquidation order, which has also been placed before the police department. The concerned Charter accounts have visited the police station for the last one year for more than 15 times with all the evidence supporting the claims of my clients."

Their lawyer emphasized that they will take appropriate legal action. The couple is prepared to defend themselves against the accusations.

Raj Kundra recently traveled to Delhi to promote Mehar, his first Punjabi film. The movie tells the story of Karamjit, a man from rural Punjab, striving to regain his honor as a husband, father, and son. Despite facing adversity, Karamjit demonstrates his worth to his family through quiet determination. The film explores themes of resilience and family bonds.
