At a special screening of Manikarnika organized for two Bollywood veterans Waheeda Rehman and Asha Parekh, who ruled the industry for decades, has got Kangana Ranaut words of praise for her acting career.
Waheeda and Asha were interacting with the reporters at the film screening in Mumbai on Wednesday. Both the actresses loved Kangana's performance in her directorial debut film Manikarnika- The Queen of Jhansi.
Waheeda Rehman who was watching the film along with Asha Parekh said that she is proud of her work in the film.

"I called Kangana to show me this movie because I was very keen. I really liked the film. She has done a really good job in acting and directing,'' veteran actress said in the video.
"She is also looking very beautiful in the film. I am so happy and proud of her that she has made this film and given a great performance as well," Waheeda added.
Asha Parekh also praised the actress on her Manikarnika performance. She said, "She has done a lot of hard work for the film and she has done a really nice job.''
''She looks exactly like the Rani of Jhansi, regal in every aspect. I hope the film runs for a very long time,'' Asha said in the video.
Waheed Rehman, 80, gave commendable performances in the films like Pyaasa, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Kaagaz Ke Phool, Guide, Chaudhavi Ka Chaand and Rang De Basanti among many others.

Characters like Jhalkaribai (Ankita Lokhande) and Sangram Singh (Taher Shabbir) come and go as they please. No one gets anything close to a graph. It's the same with the scenes: the one where Manikarnika refuses to wear the garb of a widow, or the one where women are recruited into the army, or the one where the "good Muslim character dies. They just don't build. They just don't explode. Instead, the film relies on cannon after cannon being set off. But even in these war scenes, the geography is confusing and the editing has no sweep. Compare the stretch where Lakshmibai battles assailants in order to save her young son with the similar sequence in Bajirao Mastani, and you'll see the difference between a wannabe and a visionary. Even the cinematography is flat. The frames seem to be out of a well-lit jewellery commercial.
Is this mess-up the result of the famous behind-the scenes trouble between actress and director, which now appears to have been a war on par with the one on screen? There are certainly indications that Manikarnika is something of a vanity project for its heroine. When Lakshmibai charges out of her fort and battles the British amidst exploding cannons and the sand kicked up by the hooves of horses, her face remains untouched by mud or ash, and her lipstick remains indestructible. What about the performance, you ask? It's a full-throated one quite literally so. After the death of a loved one, Kangana opens her mouth so wide in anguish that we fear we're about to catch a glimpse of the royal epiglottis. We see not a bereaved mother but an actress throwing the kitchen sink at us. You want to applaud. But first, you want to duck.

Manikarnika - The Queen Of Jhansi (Hindi) did pretty well in its first week though it was helped by the huge Republic Day holiday on Saturday. The film collected close to 57 crore nett in week one though if the holiday was not there the collections would be around 50-51 crore nett.
The weekdays have actually held well especially considering the response to the film from the audience is not so good. So despite the limited appreciation the film has managed to fair business at the box office but the question is can it continue this way. The collections in Mumbai circuit on Thursday are less than 1 crore nett which is very low and its possible the film will see further drops in the second week. Its Delhi / UP which is holding the film and its collecting more than Mumbai circuit.
The second Friday is crucial for the film as there is a chance the film can still emerge a HIT if it holds strongly but it will be tough considering the public reports. The collections of Manikarnika - The Queen Of Jhansi (Hindi) are as follows.
