KANGANA RANAUT RULES

I didn't know TDP had done so well. And wow Manikarnika is doing really well with these figures. Again, if there wasn't Kangana in the picture, I would've been rooting like anything. This is so great for a female led movie. I hope we get more big budgets female centric movies in the future and hopefully another one on Rani Laxmibai with someone else.

Last year's Hicki was 48cr in its lifetime - and other female-led films were lower than that.

Wow I didn't know Hicki has done so little. I thought it had done 100+. And I am happy for kangana mainly because of her performance is praised and loved everywhere that many, who aren't even her fans, are calling national award for her. I am happy for 60+ crore, but sorry for me that's not enough. I mean the trailer was very commercial and massy type and so it should've gained 100+ crore. But now that I know Hichki and other female movies got less than that, I don't know what to say. It's sad then that audience don't prefer female oriented movies as much even if the performance is top notch and movie is good while craps like pyar ka panchama and the likes make so much. Seeing the public reactions for manikarnika, VDW, etc it's not like they were not entertaining enough for them. So then what was the problem? Right now I only see 2 problems. One is that most audience is misogynist or just used to male oriented movies. Other is most cinema watching audience are male who can't relate with female oriented movies as much as they can with their fellow male oriented movies.

KANGANA RANAUT RULES

This movie is a "benchmark" fosho! .. It's the first movie where FL has been the sole focus on a huge budget! ... I wish it doesn't flop .. even then movie has brought in the numbers! .. So here's hoping for more "strong roles" for FLs and even "bigger budgets"! ... 🤗

I'm a big fat 0 with anything to do with box office numbers, so I will just talk about Kang's performance in the film. Rajaji is especially my favorite song. Kang's expression at the very beginning when she is pleading Jishu to not shoot the animal is so sweet. And not just this song, but the entire early portions of the movie really sold me on how innocent manikarnika was. She took a great decision to show that innocence and carefree attitude because manikarnika was just around 15-16 yrs at the time she married, so Kang's acting just brought that sort of young adult purity and innocence into the role. And this entire song is so beautiful. In addition to how gorgeous she looks because of the costumes, make up, etc (Neeta, you're a goddess!), I love that scene where her and Jishu are fighting and he is telling her to pick up her sword. Her expression and then the beautiful laugh afterwards. That laughter is just so vivacious and full of life. Jishu is also such a phenomenal actor, they both displayed so much subtly in their actions. The little eye brow lifts, and just has his eye expressions, my god, I half fell in love with Jishu Sengupta here! They were both so lovely! And while watching this movie, this song was EVEN better with dialogues!

Hoping that pens out though, the discussion is still in very early stages. It would be a waste to not make the 3rd film all about Datto's wedding.

My highlight too... also I love her expression when Jisshu catches her playing with the sword in the court yard. 😳

Kangana is a FANTASTIC ACTRESS. UNDOUBTEDLY.

She helps carry legacy of actresses like Sridevi forward... who could say so much with a twitch, expression, eyes etc. ❤️

Hope she thrives for a long time in the industry.

My fav scene was undoubtedly where her child dies and she is holding him
when a minister comes to take her child away and she gives him this look of "back off" protecting her territory

then when a female aid comes to take her child away , her demeanor and her expression changes to a vulnerable mother who is parting with her child.

That split second transformation to fierce to vulnerable was mindblowing

Yeah, that was beautiful! It was like she was sharing her pain with the woman. Look, he is not waking up, thinking that she might be able to do something. But then she becomes fierce as she realizes the woman is in fact not helping but taking her child away. That was definitely brilliant. It is mark of an intelligent actor when they can differentiate between each emotion and aptly show it in the right place with the right people.
