Women also seem to hate feminism here. 😕

Story of this forum. Celebs give some bullshit statement about feminism, and men and women start fighting and blaming each other.

Ponymo's previous post about egalitarianism just inspired me to post my thoughts on how I perceive the terms.

I accept that my previous post "I'm not an atheist, but I don't believe in God" could be snarky.

But I didn't perceive this post to be impolite, rude or condescending. Where did I go wrong?

Not yours. It wasn't impolite. I was referring to other posts where people are blasting Kareena. (can't believe I am defending her. LOL. )

Not only Kareena.. lot of celebs in the recent past come up and say -- we believe in gender equality and get blasted.

And there are majority of mango people talking like kareena.. I don't think they should be blasted. If their intention and their approach is feminist.. then they shouldn't be dragged to mud for not knowing exact textbook definition of feminism. There sure is misconception but they on the right path.

This is a funny but sad successful trend. The majority/powerful pretending they are being victimized by a minority/the less powerful. It happens over and over. Here in my home (Texas), white people think civil rights protesters are trying to make whites second class citizens and if someone says happy holidays (instead of Merry Christmas) in December it means there is a war on Christmas and Christians, etc. Misogynists have done the same thing with feminism and convinced lots of people it is really a war on men.

Bebo is, was, has always been an airhead, uskey statements per itna saara behes 😆

Who cares what people nowadays think about Feminism? Certain groups of men and women now are only obsessed with bashing Feminism, most of them have little idea what our mothers and grandmothers have suffered until some of them started fighting for their rights, started breaking the social barriers and going out to claim their destiny.

From the women who stood up for their voting rights in the early 1900s to the women who fought for their rights to education, employment and now fighting for equal pay and social justice, they are the ones who represent/ define Feminism.
What do these privileged women like KKK know abt Feminism?
Bebo thinks she set a world record by working during her pregnancy 😆
Her MIL Sharmila Tagore worked through all her 3 pregnancies and then worked many more years after having 3 kids. Women back then did not diss feminism nor did they shout from the rooftops abt being equalist or feminist
Thats because they were in reality more Feminist/ Equalist/ Progressive than the current generation of women who think its fashionable to distance themselves from the term Feminism (also thereby earning brownie points from misogynist men).

In the example anon39 gave, what the wife did was as important as what he did. Some things cannot be divided but have to be shared.

If she supported him through medical school and paid for his education with her hard work and sweat, does the education belong to her? He should stop using it then, according to your logic.

If she stayed home and raised their children with her hard work and sweat, what right does he have to the children when the marriage ends? He should stop seeing them then, according to your logic.
If he got promotions because she took care of everything at home so his only focus was work, how does she not "own " part of his success?

They made a home together and "own " it and everything in it together. Especially in families where there is pressure on a woman to stay home with the kids or put his career ahead of hers, she absolutely "owns " part of his success.

The role of women in the family has been minimized and trivialized for too long. What a woman contributes to a home is just as valuable (but harder to valuate ) as what a man does. Now things are changing where women (and divorce courts) recognize their worth and can afford to leave marriages and get educations and careers of their own and some men act like the sky is falling.

I gave example of the wolves to highlight how ridiculous it is to expect Women to become copycat of Men in name of equality. Yes, we are equal but different as per Nature. It does not mean i want all women to stay at home etc. I wanted to say that while it is good for women to work, i dont understand the hate directed by Feminists who look down on homemakers. I have seen lot of people bashing Mira Rajput just bcoz she CHOSE to stay at home. That is different argument.

Coming to Alimony topic, U said " if she stayed home and raised their children with her hard work and sweat, what right does he have to the children when the marriage ends?"

Well, until women can produce children WITHOUT sperm of a man, the father has as much right to his kids irrespective of his relationship with the mom. And sadly, most Laws work against the Father and actually separate the Father from his Kids cruelly!

U say she raised the kids. As if he was enjoying outside. Did money for the food, school, running the house come from plants? If she cud stay at home, it was bcoz of the hard work done by her husband toiling in the sun to earn a Living! That is sacrifice too! And sorry, if he got Promotions, it was bcoz he was Bloody Good at his JOB. It has nothing to do with her. And he will still get promotions even before marriage n after divorce if he does his Job well. If anything, marriages n alimony only add to his burden to earn more n more.

@BlackPanther you have a lot of issues you need to think about more deeply. women have the right to choose whatever but the bigger question is why they have to choose? Nature didn't say women must show off their marital status or wear a burkha or hijab (since you mentioned Islam). Men & women can have some biological differences but social traditions or practices are made by us. And biology can be affected by social conditioning. It's hard to separate what exactly nature intended & what social conditioning is doing to our biology! Humans are not tigers or birds...we have a brain that can reason ( beyond our biology) unlike others!

I don't care about ladies first & all that. Generally in times of war women & children are protected because women carry children...they can repopulate after war. But these days women fight wars too.

Anyways feminists don't hate men & we all get it that there are bad/mean/fraud women out there. But we all know how the scales are tilted. The scales need balancing & that's the goal of feminism or gender equality.
