Coming to Alimony topic, U said " if she stayed home and raised their children with her hard work and sweat, what right does he have to the children when the marriage ends?"

Well, until women can produce children WITHOUT sperm of a man, the father has as much right to his kids irrespective of his relationship with the mom. And sadly, most Laws work against the Father and actually separate the Father from his Kids cruelly!

U say she raised the kids. As if he was enjoying outside. Did money for the food, school, running the house come from plants? If she cud stay at home, it was bcoz of the hard work done by her husband toiling in the sun to earn a Living! That is sacrifice too! And sorry, if he got Promotions, it was bcoz he was Bloody Good at his JOB. It has nothing to do with her. And he will still get promotions even before marriage n after divorce if he does his Job well. If anything, marriages n alimony only add to his burden to earn more n more.

Mira was bashed rightfully because she said working mothers think their babies are puppies 🤢

@BlackPanther But the guy got paid for his hard work outside home. Nobody paid the woman who did all the hard work at home to raise the kids, make the food, do the laundry, clean the house, manage the servants etc! All of this also allowed the man to not have to worry about the house at all & focus on work! That's why alimony! But if the woman is working & earning just as much, then alimony is not needed. You just split costs for the children- some women prefer men bear full cost perhaps because the kids bear the man's surname or something... I don't know why that is though. That seems unfair if the woman is working.

There are of course cases where alimony can be misused & men can be harassed. So perhaps we need the law to be applied better. Not ban it.

Here in my home (Texas), white people think civil rights protesters are trying to make whites second class citizens and if someone says happy holidays (instead of Merry Christmas) in December it means there is a war on Christmas and Christians, etc. Misogynists have done the same thing with feminism and convinced lots of people it is really a war on men.

when you're used to privilege for so long even someone asking for some form of equality feels like oppression to them...

same with men and women in this thread criticising feminism .. women asking for basic rights feels like a big oppression to them.. the balance of power has been geared towards men for eternity and now women speak out against it then they feel like "ohh no now men will be the mazloom and women will rule the world..women want special privileges"

well if you're so worried about women getting better privileges due to feminism and you're after "equality" (yep sure), when why not ask for men to give some of these privileges up?

So, in a nutshell, your position is whatever the woman accomplishes she shares with her husband even if his only contribution was the bare minimum expected duties of a householder (ejaculation and income). Anything a man accomplishes is his alone even if the woman took care of every other facet of his life (which is what many still expect of a wife, even a working wife honestly). That is classic male supremacy. The man and his activities are valued. The woman and her activities are devalued.

PS I do believe both parents always maintain rights to their kids. I was trying to make a point. Generally wives spend much more time caring for children than husbands so by your logic the kids would be more hers than his despite the fact that he contributes in other ways. That is not my logic. I think both contribute and should recognize that. The thing about the man not having equal rights to the kids was an exaggeration to compare that to you saying a woman who supported her husband through medical school and residency, repeatedly moved with him giving up her job and finally her career to raise their kids had no right to his income after divorce because he was the one working - as if she played no part in his success. She helped him become a successful doctor. He helped her become a successful mother.

95% of India doesn't know the meaning of Feminism. Feminism for them is -- Female hating men. That's what have been perceived as. And that's how it has been spread by media and other outlets.

Tell me where do you go to learn about Feminism? Is it taught in Text books? Schools? Colleges? No right. Most knowing about Feminism movements have read and made themselves aware. Majority of these are residing in USA or other countries.

Most of the people in India terms it as Equality.

And it doesn't help that we have such dumbs as face of feminism in India. Like Kangana types of women misuse it. If she is the face of feminism.. I am sure people do not want to associate with the term.

Top it all we have people like this forum blasting others for calling themselves "Equalist" and not feminists.

Nobody seems to educate others. Rather.. let's jump the gun and abuse someone for their misconception. As a result make them wary of Feminism even more.

I would say.. if someone has misconception.. Do your part and correct them. Not call them idiot. You are not helping.

I know so many in real life who identify as Equalist. You look at their conduct and you realize.. they are actually feminists in their approach but doesn't want to call themselves as such coz The Word feminism has been so wrongly propagated all throughout these years.

Who blasted who?

Who abused who?

Who called who an idiot?

This coming from someone who has once defended "spectrum" of feminism ... 😆

I thought you were of the opinion that feminism is a "social concept " which has evolved over the years & as such it will by default have a spectrum and that it cannot be defined with a single definition of "equal rights for men & women " ..

People need to stop pretending like "feminism = equal rights for men & women " ... Granted that's how feminism started off but it no longer embodies its true purpose in modern times .. The concept has been tarnished beyond recognition ..

There are people who do not wish to be associated with it and strongly believe in equality, you are just going to have to deal with it .. Forceful branding is a wishful thinking .. You ll surely get an audience on a platform such as this one but that's about it .. Speaking of forceful branding :

I believe in peace. But I am not a Muslim. ( You can be a Muslim who believes in peace , but you don't necessarily have to be one to believe in peace )

I am a pure vegetarian. But I am not a Jain. ( Jains are pure vegetarians but you don't necessarily have to be one in order to be a pure vegetarian )

I believe in equality. But I am not a feminist. ( Only radical feminists believe that you can't believe in equality without being a feminist 😆)
