The writer makes some good, valid points.
But his bias (hatred?) against Ranbir color the entire article, making it difficult to believe what he says.
Halfway through, all I could think of was, wow, this guy really hates Ranbir! 😆 Oh and the way he is handling criticism on twitter has more or less negated the impact this article had.

this is somewhat true... many valid points... even in this forum, he is considered the best actor of all time😆, i find his acting fine, but he is very limited...so i dont find the best actor claim that convincing at all...claiming him to be aamir, deniro, pacino..it was ridiculous. Effortless and natural in one genre doesnt mean you are a great actor... even tushar kapoor and abhisekh bacchan are effortless and natural😆 in their movies. show that in every genre then it's something..

But this is a killer article 👏 which i thought would never come out of journalist fraternity.

good to see ranbir fans hitting likes on comments that ranbir is limited.. finally accepted😆

i don't know some things i agree with this article, but some i don't quite agree with..

Wake Up Sid, APKGK, Rocket Singh, Barfi - IMHO these were some of Ranbir's best performances

Besharam, Roy, BV, ADHM, JJ - In these movies he is not on the same level as some of his best performances..

I blame the directors, producers and the critics...

Producers who are willing to pay him 30 crores even after he gives disasters... why don't they look at his BO?

Critics who hail him as the most terrific actor despite some of his mediocre performances.
i think Ranbir's acting in Barfi tends to overshadow everything so much that even when he gives a performance that is not terrific, but merely good... the director is blamed for failing Ranbir.. if you are that passionate about cinema and it is your job to watch movies, and analyze them, then they shouldn't you be catching his mediocre performances??? after all that is the only way he will get better instead of hailing him as the most terrific actor the country has ever seen.

Directors, who feel they have somehow "failed" Ranbir and take full responsibility for the movie when Ranbir is no God 🥱

some of the things even I am guilty of.. i mostly blame the directors when the movie is bad 😳 i didn't even remember the ADHM scene until someone posted it earlier.. mostly i remember his best scenes in that movie 😆😆

Very valid point raised by the author backed by substantial evidence to validate his claim.
Though Ranbir suffers from limited range what baffles me is this indoctrination that he is best BW has to offer. Anyone who questions his acting ability is looked down upon.
His shortcomings are so apparent yet is given chances after chances with bw's biggest directors and producers are paying the outrageous price for him while the return is abysmal.

I would like to give an example of this actor, Vicky Kaushal. He was beyond perfection in Masaan and Raman yet he doesn't get the same treatment as RK. While both are industry kid.
Just because and this is entirely my opinion that he is a Kapoor.
The same marketing strategy used to legitimize Alia's (non existent)talent.

Having criticized RK for his shortcomings, I would also conclude he is talented but needs more honing and venturing into playing different characters as opposed playing one dimensional one which for the lack of a better word, a man child.

IF the Dutt Biopic is a hit which i really doubt even if its Rajkumar hiranis movie i hope no one will brag about how it is the comeback of the Superstar Ranbir Kapoor and being bankable and so on 😆. With good directors and A-List actresses by his side people still dont want to watch his movies FDFS.

What nonsense.
My love for movies was certainly passed on to me by my parents but I was also taught to think independently. Hence my taste is entirely my own. I think I am smart enough to recognize good acting and no one makes me like anyone, certainly not the media.

That said, I am someone who is firmly against nepotism in BW. But I would also like to think I can separate the wheat from the chaff so to speak. There are those people like Ranbir, Alia who get handed opportunities, but work hard, who don't take their opportunities for granted, who don't sit back but push themselves. So why the hell should I not like them ? I don't need the media to tell me they are different. I can hate the system that spawned them but these are people who rose above the rest through hard work and talent. So I like them myself TYVM.

Dumbest, most biased article of all time... if anything this author is the one trying to brainwash us into thinking Ranbir is useless and talentless... lmao...

Well likes of Irfaan, Nawazuddin and Rajkumar Rao are constantly praised despite the quality of film or whether they have acted good in it or not
Its not nepotism. Lets not paint Ranbir black considering he is acting good actor who has proved his mettle time again.
