On plus side today's critics considers those 3 films in their must watch list. Just shows what really holds the spot on critics mindset. Also. Jagga Jasoos if compiled all major critics reviews together. Hold averagely of 2.7/5 rating. Not so critically acclaimed is it?

@Piyatrix. The fact is constancy. One or 2 failure is fine but Ranbir is given 5 major setbacks in less than 4 years. His stardom has only seen to be declining since his first blockbuster. I mean these criticisms has to be fair despite I may not say he is a bad actor. I liked his work in few films. But he is limited.

hell yeah i really enjoyed some golmaal, especially the 2nd installment, must say i enjoyed tusshar the most. . but i don't want my RK joining the golmaal camps, nah...its not his standard. i want floppys like JJ from him.

If I was to the say the same thing about Varun or Alia... everyone in the forum would attack me and tell me I'm wrong. But with Ranbir it's ok?

Varun or Alia are so much worse in terms of nepotism

Ranbir Kapoor hasn't played a single character where I'm able to tell them apart. He's as good as his ex Katrina Kaif. Limited in everything. He was good in Rocket Singh and Wake Up Sid. Nothing else.

I agree with the article till certain extent, and after RK this same stuff applies to Alia the most whose extented cameo sort of forgettable role in K&S is hyped as the best thing by likes of Raju hirani and her performance in Highway (which was a commercial Flop btw) is compared to that of meryl streep😆 and is rated above Tabu's Ghazala in Haider by industry insiders...
Varun's case is different his BO stats backs his hype, a 100% success ratio is a rare feat (infact a never seen before feat) his performances in Dilwale & ABCD2 have been panned
And its only after proving himself to an extent with applauded performances in Badlapur & recently Badri he is finally gettin. work with good directors like Shoojit, Nitesh, gettin, earlier he has worked with either flop/critically panned directors or debutants.
Hopefully ache din toh ab aane wale hain 😆

Hated how he used his popularity to snatch roles from others. He actually had the nerve to admit he called directors/producers to make them know he was interested in their movie.
That's how he took Bombay Velvet from Ranveer Singh... a blessing in disguise really...

He needs to stop trying to find himself

Seems as audience stopped trying to find him long time back 😆😆😆

I really liked him in Ajab Prem. More comedy like that please 😛

Okay I don't like comparisons but here is what I see
Ranbir...Career in Bollywood so far

Known directors he worked with
Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Rajkumar Santoshi, Simit Amin, Imtiaz Ali, Prakash Jha, Anurag Basu, Anurag Kashyap, Karan Johar, Rajkumar Hirani, Ayan Mukherji.

Amount of nominations he got at filmfare

He took Filmfare over Neil Nitin Mukesh who has one of the best debut's with Johnny Gaddar. Best Actor critics over Abhay Deol in Dev D

Best Actor Nominations for

Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahaani
Wake Up Sid
Raajneeti
Rockstar - Winner
Barfi - Winner
Yeh Jawani Ha Deewani
Tamasha
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

Now look at his Box Office ratio

Blockbuster - YJHD
Super Hits - APKGK, Raajneeti & Barfi
Hit - ADHM
Semi Hit - Wake Up Sid & Bachna Ae Haseeno
Average - Anjaana Anjaani

Flops & Below Averages - Rocket Singh, Besharam, Tamasha, Jagga Jasoos, Roy
Disasters - Saawariya & Bombay Velvet

Now we all know Bollywood is such industry where even David Dhawan's son will face rejection or lack of best choices in front of someone like Rishi Kapoor's son.

Sorry but Alia/Varun/Hrithik/Any freaking star kid never got this much advantages like Ranbir did despite giving not equivalent but more failures than success in short span career

Of all the people who have benefitted from nepotism, Ranbir Kapoor is the one most genuinely talented. He is a natural actor and has a passion for acting. This makes him deserve his career more than most other people.
I disagree that there has been any propaganda to make him a superstar. His career graph has been up and down like most movie stars. He has had hits and critically acclaimed films like Rocket Singh, Barfi, YJHD. At the same time, he has had bombs and trashed films like Besharam, Bombay Velvet, and Jagga Jasoos.

I feel that an objective film viewer has to appreciate the talent Ranbir Kapoor displays. Then again, this article states that it is all propaganda and anyone who appreciates Ranbir has been brainwashed by it. So what can I say, Hail mother Russia. For the motherland.

I think Ranbir is talented , if and when he wills to apply himself to the craft.
With that said, ofcourse there is a propaganda of the media, BW "fraternity" whenever one of their own is about to debut. Media plays a huge role. Nepotism is not just in terms of people investing but now BW tricks the trade in thinking a certain star is worth a certain value in terms of economics not just whose child he is but also because of friendly gushing. In return they get access to the star, the salad stories, keep the press going at a time when I doubt many buy the physical magazines.

I still remember how Jitesh of filmfare would tweet about Bir's movies way before they released or even speculating about other star kids.

Why would they have this propaganda going , because they want to increase the market price of the star so that they can exploit the Studios (most of which are shut down because of star kids and their inflated pricing).

Good, friendly PR with many journos on their families payrolls for years can keep the name going for years before their debut.
