when singers themselves use autotune ,i dont mind people like parineeti singing even with a bit of autotune if there voice sounds good

Well technically actors SHOULD sing their own songs. In HW, the concept of playback isnt that popular and the screen actors themselves provide voices if there are any songs in the movie. BW ofcourse works in a totally different way and playback exists to facilitate the BW style of film-making.

I think any BW actor, be it skilled or unskilled, can provide vocals for their songs if they want or if the composer considers it suitable. However, there are some occasions when playback singers somehow get discredited when the actors are given the spotlight.

Example, the video of Samjhawan (unplugged) is perfectly fine for me; Alia sang the song herself.

However, when I see Anushka in Jag Ghoomeya (female) it makes me feel bad for the singer. The song video is not part of the movie and there also they make it look as if Anu sang the song..

Only if they can actually sing! Not someone like sonakshi who is only tolerable after autotune..

While I do think some voices like SPB are divine, many of my favorite songs are sung by actors. I think it adds authenticity and sequence to the movie.

Only the ones who have a decent voice and fairly decent technique without auto tune. Who when sing live are not unbearable to the ears should try their hand at singing.

I would never argue that DQ is a great or even a good singer. Even I can see autotune heavily borrowed here, but there is something about him singing that song that was so appropriate for the movie.
