This is she said BTW

That's what makes her hypocrite. Coz she endorses the same through her fairness cream ads.

She is being stupid. Her ads clearly try to demonstrate that being fair is better. So whatever she says now will get her bashed. Better would have been if she said "white is always right". That would have been fun😆.

First of all, cant really expect her to understand the gravity of the "fair is better" thought behind these ads. Since she is so dumb, she is acting in those ads. How is it NoT Offensive to say you can become fairer and get all the attention otherwise you lose?

No one likes to be short. A lot of people want to be tall.
No one likes to be fat. A lot of people want to be fit.
No one likes a fat nose. Thin lips. Small eyes. No eyebrows. A lot of people want a sleek nose, thick lips, big eyes and nice thick eyebrows.

Obviously not everyone is born with all these things. So people keep wishing to get better. We use heels to artifically grow taller. Wear black to give the illusion that we are slimmer. We use makeup, contouring, all kinds of makeup tricks to make our skin 'glow'. No matter in which way you put it, your skin can't be glowing in black. It's about time people accept that it's people's choice to be of any colour they wish, just like no one should dictate whether one should wear heels or makeup. Period.

True. But the wave of change is to stop this type of thinking and to encourage people to be happy the way they are. You must know that this kind of thinking is causing serious body image issues in young girls. Endorsing fair is beautiful by celebrities is a step in the wrong direction.
Btw black can glow too 😉 there are lots of dark skinned super models with glowing skin.

Indeed, showing that a girl be confident about landing in a job or a guy would marry only if she is fair is not at all offensive. I understand that after literally being face of a fairness cream brand for years, she cannot comment against the product but a little bit of sense wouldn't hurt.

If thats the case then people should stop endorsing hair color too. What about those who don't want to dye their hair? Lipsticks too. What on earth is wrong with not having pink/red lips? Kajal too. It's okay not to have thick lashes no? Heels should be banned too. It would make those who are really short very insecure. I can go on and on. The point is, body images will happen with girls for one reason or the other if not for skin colour. If they're actually confident and happy being who they are, it shouldn't bother them at all.

And sure dark skin can glow too. But what's the difference between dark skin and glowing dark skin? Google says glowing means "a steady radiance of light". Which colour is light again? Right.

Everyone has different anesthetic preferences. True.

But color is a different matter. You cant simply say 'my choice' to something that was the basis for slavery, racial genocide and treating people like animals...

Racial discrimination has centuries of history behind it. In today's world too despite all the awareness blacks are heavily discriminated. The whole south asian obsession with white skin came from being subjugated by those who had white skin.

Pls stop callously disregarding the history of race and color in the guise of 'is my choice'.

Btw black skin. Or for that matter any skin white, brown etc glows if it is healthy and well taken care of.

"Your skin can't be glowing black" - What kind of absurd nonsense is this? There are stunning black models with gorgeous glowing skin. It's your personal issue if you don't find their skin stunning. Also this "no one" generalization is clearly your personal deal instead of the broad generalization. Plenty of people like their skintone and would like adverts and makeup stores to stop being annoying about how they should change their skintone instead. It's about time people who are clearly biased stop ignoring the harm of posing any skintone's superiority over others. Fairness adverts play it like the majority of darkskinned Indians are naturally inferior and only a different skin can help their lives, careers or whatever. It's vastly different from choice. It's not a choice when adverts culturally condition people to believe in skintone supremacy. The problem aren't the adverts, the problem is how the adverts are portrayed. You have you personal bias, good for you. You also do not get to "dictate" what others should feel offended by. Period.
