On top of it he doesn't reference their religion at all !!

Diwali is a holiday for everybody - Hindus, Muslims and everyone else. So I don't see how all of them being Hindus would benefit the film.

Just like how during Eid, we don't have films with Muslim characters alone, or during X'mas, we don't have films with Christian characters alone.

It's just a story of different people - I am sure Hindus would not mind to watch Muslims onscreen and vice versa (I belong to one of these two religions and trust me, it didn't strike me at all which religion they belonged to).

That stereotype has been pretty much broken. Quite a no. of cine goers preferred ADHM over Shivaay.

Why do you have a problem with them being Muslim?

Also, how do you know Alizeh was a Muslim? There are some 2 million Christians in Pakistan alone. So what if her name is Khan - the name "Khan" predates Islam by centuries.

There is nothing shown in the movie to indicate she was a Muslim. I don't understand why you would be so offended by this.

Yes !! A hindu movie releasing on hindu festival. It was referenced a lot.

Can we discuss this topic in relation to the movie and not the surrounding? Please. This is no bashing post.

Perhaps to cash on Pakistani audience. KJo knows that his movie will at least get the initial viewing in India no matter what.Then only WOM works.

I've often wondered why Bollywood always have main leads as Hindus even when it has no relevance to the story. A finding fanny is set in goa to make the characters Christians. Often Christian characters are shown as wine drinking, short dress wearing, taking in broken Hindi. Muslim characters in the past used to have a fake afghan accent. Caricatures and stereotypes. If nothing, at least this movie has liberal characters as Muslims. Today it's so difficult to show anything without religious fanatics of any religion taking offense to it.
