I question the question!

Why do you have a problem with them being Muslim?

Also, how do you know Alizeh was a Muslim? There are some 2 million Christians in Pakistan alone. So what if her name is Khan - the name "Khan" predates Islam by centuries.

There is nothing shown in the movie to indicate she was a Muslim. I don't understand why you would be so offended by this.

Actually, wait... maybe I do.

I do not have problem, I just don't get the logic of them being in Pak also, when it was easily dubbed as Indian later. Can Veer-Zara be changed to Lucknow-Bihar story? No.

Yes !! A hindu movie releasing on hindu festival. It was referenced a lot.

Can we discuss this topic in relation to the movie and not the surrounding? Please. This is no bashing post.

its not about bashing ... but the question you asked was kind of weird ... we are a secular country with btw the largest Muslim population in the world ... so what's the point of asking why characters were Muslim ?

like someone mentioned the biggest releases on eid have Hindu characters ... nobody asks why make xyz movie with Hindu characters

... so why is the religion even relevant ??? ... if you can't see how wrong (or even offensive) your question is then no answer will satisfy you ..

Veer-Zara had logic behind its characters being in that place !!
Tell me logic of ADHM 's characters being in Pak initially. Coz it was so easily replaceable

We are the same country where shows like "Qubool Hai" and "Heena" (some years ago) based on muslim characters were ruling the TRP charts...

In this age of globalisation - 'desi' peeps(Indian + Pakistani + Bangladeshi) do meet, mix and get friendly in foreign nations. I've seen plenty of Indians abroad being friends/falling in love with other desis.

It's just what happens, and is happening widely.

And, like ponymo said on page 1 - it(characters in the movie originally belonging to two nations that is) tells about friendliness between people from two countries just like Indians on IF and Pakistanis/Bangladeshis on IF are friends, talk to each other and so on..

Am I against Muslim characters? NO
Did Qubool Hai ( I did not watch it) show characters following their faith. Yes

I remember watching Heena, it was totally based on beliefs of the community. Could Heena be story of Hindu girl? No. So there is a logic behind characters in TV , so why not movie?
Could Heena be Shruti? It won't work.
