Bajrangi Bhaijaan movie review: Salman Khan gives his career-best performance in this Kabir Khan film!

The film showcases Salman Khan in a never-seen-before avatar!

Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Salman Khan and Eid have all come together this week to give a special treat to all Salman fans out there. For those who thought Bhai would stumble this time, please take a hike. Salman Khan is back in style and he is here to win your hearts!

What's it about:

The plot of Bajrangi Bhaijaan is no mystery. Salman plays the lead role of Pawan Chaturvedi akaBajrangi bhakt who is goodness personified. He doesn't lie, won't cheat even if he's forced to, has an uncanny habit of bowing down in front of monkeys whom he considers avatars of Lord Hanuman - the list is endless. So when Shahida aka Munni (Harshaali Malhotra) who is mute loses her way from Pakistan and lands up in India, she takes solace in Pawan's arms. Of course, the agreement isn't consensual and the first half goes in Pawan trying to figure out who is Munniand what her place of origin is. Kareena Kapoor Khan plays Rasika, Salman's love interest and the only character wearing color and a bit of glamour. The palette for rest of the film is extremely rugged and dry. Bajrangi Bhaijaans storyline is simple, yet the characters in it go through complex situations. Nawaz takes the tempo to another level in the second half where he plays a bumbling yet smart Pakistani TV reporter. With his addition to the plot, things become more interesting. Even though the climax is predictable and we know where Bajrangi's story ends, it's the journey that matters and draws you in with its charm.

What's hot:

Kabir Khan has shown a side to his craft that will leave everyone stunned. Someone who's USP has been political action thrillers has come up with a story that is devoid of any gimmicks, special effects, or distractions that have been part of his earlier films. This time he strips the plot to its core basic and lets his characters shine. Be it Bajrangi, Munni or Nawaz, all three characters are so richly written that they stay with you even after the last reel rolls out. Salman has given his career best performance in Bajrangi Bhaijaan. For someone whose every step and move is mimicked and aped, his portrayal of Pawan is his most earnest and sincere effort. There are no glares hanging from his collar, no pelvic thrusts, no double meaning-laden dialogues, just a man with a heart of gold, on a mission. It takes a bit to adjust your senses to this new and improved Salman. But eventually, how much ever you resist, he wins you over with his charm. Nawazuddin is as good as he's in every film. His comic timing is impeccable and every scene with Salman is going to get seetis from the audience. Harshaali is a terrific find and has a face of an angel. It was so important for Kabir to get the right girl to play the part. She had to be innocence personified and Harshaali is all that and more. Kareena and Salman make an amazing pair and the ease at which they perform their scenes comes from the comfort and the love their audience gives them. Cinematography is breathtaking, be it the opening credit scene with the snow capped Himalayas or the Kashmir pine trees that the camera playfully captures, every frame is lit with love. Kabir has steered clear of the obvious and easy trap of Pakistan bashing. In fact this has to be the first film that shows our neighbor in good light. There are no scenes of chest thumping or trying to drum up that patriotic jingoism. Full marks to Kabir and Salman for taking a fresh approach to the cliche ridden Indo-Pak storyline.

What's not:

The climax takes a bit of time to play itself out. Bajrangi's arrest and what follows is a bit of a letdown in terms of the pace of the plot. You can sense the restlessness of the editor wanting to jump to the climax as the film comes to a full circle. Also Pawan's back story in the first half and his relationship with his dad seemed half baked. We also don't get enough information on Pawan's obsession with Bajrangbali. How did he turn into this avid Hanuman bhakt? Songs are alright, the only track that actually blends into the story is the Adnan Sami qawwali Bhar Do Jholi Meri.

What to do:

Surrender yourself to Bajrangi Bhaijaan and let him win you over with his child-like charm. A must watch for those who complained that Salman doesn't try anything different, Bajrangi Bhaijaan is the ticket to buy this weekend!

Bajrangi Bhaijan Movie Review - Get Pertinent Lessons of Humanity with Fun and Entertainment

Ratings

The much-awaited film of Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan called Bajrangi Bhaijan (BB) is finally here to hit this Friday. The film is directed by the most talented filmmaker of B Town calledKabir Khan, while it is produced by Salman Khan along with Rockline Venkatesh. Apart from Salman and Kareena the other talented actor of B Town - Nawazuddin SIddiqui is also seen in the lead characters. The script comes from Kabir Khan itself who is known to make such movies for B Town in the past. The music comes from Pritam and others, while the film runtime is around two and half hours, and to be specific it tolls to around 154 minutes. Now, let us get into the film and find out what it encompasses?

Bajrangi Bhaijan Plot/Story

Meet Pavan Kumar Chaturvedi who is fondly called as Bajrani (played by Salman Khan). He is an ardent devotee of Hanuman also known as Bajrang Bali in the Hindu Mythologies. He loves to greet or wish people by saying Jai Shri Ram, which he seems to have chanted more than 100 times in the film. However, he hails from a family of wrestlers, sadly he does not have the interest to follow their footsteps, as he happens to be very much delicate and ticklish. The story moves to the next level when he finds a young speech impaired girl from Pakistan lost in the streets of India without having any head back over the border to her residence. He then takes the responsibility to reunite her in the alien land with her family. During all this, he also comes across a young woman called Rasika played by Kareena Kapoor Khan, whose family has a good relation with these people. This man reaches out Pakistan wherein he is helped by a local TV journalist played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui to reach the family of the lost girl called Munni. What happens next is interesting to catch and is filled with loads of fun and comedy elements backed by a message of humanity.

Star Performances, Music and technical stuff

Bajrangi Bhaijaan is among the first film, which is being made in Kashmir. Moreover, as usual Salman was seen showcasing his golden heart to the people of this town by gifting them TV in their house. Though it was not easy to shoot a film in Kashmir for obvious reasons but the extended support from the local administration and state government to Salman and Kabir Khan rolled out the things. Kabir was smart enough to bring out the best potentials from Salman unlike his previous film Ek Tha Tiger once again he was able to prove that he is an accomplished director who can make actors work as per his whims and fancies.

On the other side Salman Khan in the character of Bajrangi Bhaijaan remained too cool and accomplished. He was seen more than a serious actor thanks to the character, which is a no-nonsense kind of role, Salman seemed perfect while playing it over the silver screen. The film, which has everything right from drama, emotion, action and music really turned things around Salman. On the other side Kareena Kapoor Khan, playing the character of a Rasika is the love interest of Salman seemed the opposite from the glam and sensual sequences for which she is popular. In her character of Rasika she simply remained outstanding and once again proved her worth over the silver screen. In a sense, the feeling of being a versatile actor from her performances was felt over the screen. Next is Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who remained incredible with her fabulous performance over the silver screen as always. The kind of camaraderie these actors have shared in the film really helped Kabir to add the right amount of authenticity that came perfect over the silver screen.

Now talking about the other elements starting with Music, Salman's movies are known to carry catchy songs. This is the reason why Pritam the music director has left no stone unturned to keep the songs the way Salman movie demands. Therefore, you have peppy tracks like Aaj Ki Party and the infamous song at Chartbuster called Selfie Le Le Re seemed outstanding for the actor. The other songs like the travel number Zindagi Kuch Toh Bata and the romantic song Tu Chahiye too caught the ears to the listeners for the soothing music and meaningful lyrics. Similar was the story with other elements, which include screenplay, locations, dialogues and other elements, which kept adding up the entertainment value of the film making bigger and better for this festive watch.

Bajrangi Bhaijan Review - Last Word

The festival of Eid has been synonymous to Salman Khan's movies and BB is no exception. The film is all about love, relationship and commitment rather social commitment, which human tend to forget in the real life. Hence, with characters like Bajrangi reminds you the forgotten lesson of social responsibility with his own style and humor. BB is essentially a movie with strong social message along with having all fun elements in it. The film has the heart in the right slot and hence catching up BB would make your heart feel a better person. Right from performance to music to locations to screenplay, editing and other elements BB has been interwoven the best as per the taste of a larger chunk of the audience. Catch it you will certainly going to Enjoy it!

Movie Review: 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' is the best Salman Khan movie in recent times; Nawazuddin Siddiqui entertains!

Bajrangi Bhaijaan is a delightful watch. It is perhaps one of the best movies of Salman Khan in recent times.

Why? Because the actor sheds his superstar image and plays the innocent Pavan Kumar Chaturvedi with much-required honesty and excellence. For those who question his acting skills- this movie will change your views! The role is tailor made for him and he carries the movie on his shoulders brilliantly.

However, he doesn't carry the movie alone. He carries it along with the little girl, Harshaali Malhotra, whose cuteness and comfort in front of the camera will bowl you over.

First half is amazing, however the story starts to unfold during the second half, where Nawazuddin Siddiqui takes over from Salman as the entertaining factor of the movie! He is wonderful and funny as the small-time journalist with a big heart. He is certainly a treat to watch!

Being a Kabir Khan movie, you never need to worry about the story or the treatment to it. Infact, even the treatment given to Indo-Pak relationship is brilliant and doesn't give either of the countries or religions a chance to get angry with any scene or dialogue.

Overall, even without the much-known Salman's action hero image, the movie will be a big hit at the box office, and more than that- win hearts!

The movie truly deserves Claps.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan Review : Salman's Sweetest Eid Treat Ever!

By Jaidev Hemmady, MovieTalkies.com

Films revolving around Indo-Pak relations usually rely on jingoism and nationalism to score brownie points with the audience, but Kabir Khan, maker of films like Kabul Express andEk Tha Tiger, dares to be different with his latest offering, which can be described as Salman Khan's sweetest Eid treat ever for his fans.

Starring Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and child artiste Harshaali Malhotra, Bajrangi Bhaijaan is a touching tale of love, peace and harmony that is bound to bring a lump to your throats.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan revolves around Pavan Chaturvedi (Khan), a do-gooder and a Lord Hanuman devotee from a family of wrestlers, who comes across a mute Pakistani girl Shahida (Harshaali Malhotra), who is lost in Delhi after getting separated from her mother while on a trip to a dargah in India. Not knowing about her origins, the kind-hearted Pavan takes 'Munni' (as he names her) to the place of his family friend (Sharat Saxena), with whose family he stays and on discovering her story, takes it upon himself to reunite her with her family, irrespective of the consequences.

While in Pakistan, Pavan runs into Chand Nawab (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), a local scribe looking for a big story, who decides to help Pavan and Munni. Will the 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' manage to fulfill his vow? Watch the film to find out...

After reinventing himself as the larger-than-life hero with Wanted, Salman plays a very restrained character that comes across as a pleasant surprise. Indeed, it is refreshing to see Salman without his trademark swagger and his Dabangg attitude. Fans of the Bhaijaan will agree that Pavan/Bajrangi is one of the best characters he has played in a long time

Kareena Kapoor Khan, who plays his love interest Rasika, doesn't get much to do but provides apt support to her Good Samaritan lover. Nawazuddin Siddiqui is simply delightful as the plucky reporter, who goes all out to help the protagonist and his impeccable comic sense and his poker-faced humour ensures ample chuckles.

Last but not the least, it is Harshaali, who is the actual hero of the film. The little one simply wraps you around her little finger from the first scene itself and is sure to get you all teary-eyed during most of her scenes. Without a doubt, Harshaali is one of the most talented child artistes to have graced Bollywood with her talent and like Salman once said in an interview, she carries the film on her tiny shoulders.

Kabir Khan had proved his talent with subjects like terrorism and Indo-Pak tension in his past films, but the director does an about turn and touches your heart with his latest offering. Sure enough, some of the scenes are predictable and even downright corny, but you have no choice but to smile indulgently and flow with the emotions, simply because the story has its heart in the right place.

The music of the film is decent enough and the cinematography is simply breath-taking. The team has honestly captured the beauty of Kashmir and deserves kudos for their efforts.

In conclusion, Bajrangi Bhaijaan is a must-watch... and not just for Salman fans.
