I'm not talking about lawsuits, TV or newspapers. It's common sense that murder and illegal activities will make headlines while a three minute Youtube video won't.

[DIV]For all I'm concerned, Salman Khan's films make the most of any Bollywood actor in the industry. We idolize him and literally regard him as our brother. He stands as a role model for young children nationwide.
Meanwhile, ~95% of the comments on YouTube were quick to label Deepika Padukone -- who is at least using her voice for positive change -- as a s**t, a wh**e, a prostitute and a cheat.
Those words are a reflection of Indian thought -- and a disappointing one, at that.

What logic is this?
Films making money have nothing to do with justifications of an actor's actions.~ Films making money have A LOT to do with actors and who the general public idolizes. Why do you think films like American Hustle and Happy New Year make so much money at the box office? Because people like people like Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Shah Rukh Khan. The fact that a murderer is making the biggest bucks in Bollywood is kind of sad. At least in my eyes. But hey... to each their own.
Khans get worst name calling as well. You notice comments only on DP?~ They may get name called, fine. But are 90-95% of comments about a positive action they take negative and criticizing? I don't remember Being Human and SMJ getting this level of hate and retaliation? Were the criticisms consistently targeting their gender as well?
Salman is not every young kid's role model. If some admire his style or body building or charity, it doesn't mean they are okay with everything else he does. Few aspects are admired. And that's for everyone. It is not like Deepika has lost everything!
You forgot the flop phase Salman had after his controversies. Try as much as you want, to make it a sexism issue but it is NOT one.~ I refuse to believe that a man our country regard as "bhai" is not being handed a pedestal to be a role model for our country. Sorry.
Everyday regular people react same way to everyone. Deepika is not a special victim here.~ I don't know about Deepika being a special victim, but I sure as hell was treated like shit on those YT comments. If you don't think YT comments there are sexist, I don't have much to say to you.
And STOP generalising Indian thought based on YT comments. 🤢~ It's hard not to and no reason why I shouldn't. Those comments are written by real, everyday educated Indian people. Those are women's colleagues, husbands and acquaintances. They represent our country and our mindset.
Don't generalise an entire populace just to defend your fav heroine!~ If you took a moment to actually read my post, you'd see that I'm not even a fan of Deepika Padukone. i think she's a mediocre actress in the least. Fave heroine is Waheeda Rehman, thank you very much.
Nandita is also doing activism but if she said something wrong, she will be criticised for it. Trying to do something good or whatever doesn't mean one can never be criticised.
Filmi fans bring weird logic to forever defend celebs. Don't criticise Salman because of Being Human, don't criticise Aamir even on his comments on AIB or dog blog because he does SMJ and now don't criticise Deepika because she did a woman empowerment video!
Proves again how social causes are being used both for publicity and as shield against any criticism, by these celebs.~ I'm not against criticism. Even I had several criticisms against the video. I thought it could have been better thought through and could have covered more grievances against Indian women. What I'm against is this disgusting way of labeling, targeting and insulting women solely because of their gender. It's not just Deepika Padukone. It's womanhood.
Again, you're free to think whatever you want. My thoughts aren't targeted at a lone celebrity. She's nothing more than a fleck in a sea of humanity. I admire her message and am deeply saddened by how much negativity it spewed. That's it.

Life is not all abt 'my choice". Its abt right choice or wrong choice... but more imp. the best choice available to us.Why I gave rapists example is if we go by just "my choice", the society is in danger. From young age till we die, "my choice" has always been influenced. encouraged, denied, punished, rewarded... by the loved ones to society to the laws and order. If a "video" says "my (blunt, iresponsible) choice" is the way to liberation orwomen empowerment or feminism or whatever "social" relevance it has to to deliver... then sorry, we cant and shudnt buy it.We have seen funny versions of how men wud react to it in no time😆. Why dont we make we make a video on kids saying "my choice"? 😕It was a video to create controversy for sure.. thats a kinda best publicity now. It got what it wanted."my choice" was to go to "Easter's show" today but the family wanted to go to "Rainbow's end". So I m kewl with it. Thats how my choice becomes our choice. No brainer. 😛
I encourage you to reread my post because I don't think you got the point of it.
Also, it's a bit foolish to compare the choices of young children (who are not mature enough to make their decisions and therefore need parenting) with the choices of fully grown, mature, adult women.

Deny as much as you will.
You are selective in paying attention if you didn't see the controversies generated by SMJ.
If you ignored Salman's flop phase till Wanted.
If you take comments on DP as comments on womanhood and not normal criticism. Never seen people cry on comments on manhood if a man is criticised! Talk of selectively playing sexism card!
Stars making money has NOTHING to do with opinions on their lifestyle. Hema was the top heroine. Does it mean people justified or excused her choices?
Almost every top star has questionable behaviour and controversy attached to him or her. It doesn't imply their deeds are excused or justified. People watch films for fictional persona.
This Monica Bedi is a criminal but is winning all awards for her role in Saraswatichandra. What will you make of it then?
Commenters on YT do not represent whole India. I don't know about your criteria but I would never judge a country based on mere YT comments! I don't know who seriously judges a whole country based on YT comments of all things! 😲
Sorry but this is ridiculous defense.
And don't think you can defend a poorly made video by trashing a country.
As I wrote in a previous post, such a video would get response like this no matter which group made it.
It's KJo Vs Ajay yet again after ADHM Vs Shivaay Dhadak 2 or Son Of Sardar 2.. ..
