I don't think people need to be in Deepika's PR team to present their opinions in favour of this video. There are people who agree with the video and also who are against it. Some people might like to write lengthy "essays" or opinions in detail. I am in that category. I like to write long and detailed. But I don't think that makes me Deepika's fan...

Maybe you personally don't need a video for it (which, honestly, looking at your posts I think you do) but I didn't realize that every video ever made had to personally cater to your needs. A lot of people will benefit from watching the video. And no, women don't have the choice everywhere. It is sad because you seem to be a Kat fan and your objection to the video seems to be more about your objection to DP. But Kat is not immune to this either. Why do you think she is so careful about insisting she is single till she gets married? Why was she upset about the Ibiza pics? Because, as she herself says, this society is quick to pass judgement on women and their "character" and she doesn't want to face that censure.

Feminism is so much bigger than BW and it is really sad that you are allowing stupid things like fan wars to cloud your judgement. And by you, I mean a lot of people on this forum, not you specifically.

Get out of your Bollywood fan/hater mindset!

I am not a Kat fan.

I am not a DP hater.

I have rarely commented on DP/Kat topics.

My views are limited to the video and conversations around it alone.

I don't want any video catering to my needs. Thank you very much but I do not require videos or films for my beliefs.

Look at the responses on other sites. The video has not benefitted anyone. Forget lot of people. It backfired instead and spread misconceptions on women's empowerment. Thanks to the words it used. And that alarmed feminists as well who are now trying to offer clarifications.

It's not about stars at all.

One should know how to frame a message. Like that Vidya Balan ad on sanitation. She delivered a progressive message but within a conventional framework which was easy to understand for masses (questioning on ghunghat and having to answer nature's call in open).

You know the Tanishq ad in which man and woman are getting married and woman's daughter also comes up and asks the man if she can call him dad now? That's a powerful message without being verbose. We are not told if the daughter is from a previous marriage or affair but all we know is that woman with a daughter married another man and they are happy about their decision.

You don't need to talk down to others and make verbose declarations to be taken seriously. And if you do, then better choose words carefully.

I think it was brilliant too. It wasnt ignored...that is important. But I dont think it not being ignored had anything with do with DP. I think it had more to do with the conceptualization.

As I said earlier in my reply to you, there ARE flaws in this videos, no doubt. I am just presenting my opinions and thoughts in my comments. I wrote what I felt the video was actually trying to say. Everyone who watched the video has different opinions. Nobody thinks the same way. Maybe the way I perceived the video is far different than how you did. And there is nothing wrong in that. I personally felt that the video was trying to emphasize on the equality between men and women and also preach that women are entitled to their own opinions and choices, no matter if it is right or wrong. But I also believe that with the freedom of choice, comes the acceptance of responsibility.

Has any famous male, especially someone not from Bollywood spoken on the sexual freedom aspect of the video..top journos, social thinkers anyone?
After all, they are the ones said to be targeted...

Those who made parodies, would not have bothered if Deepika was not in the video.Well,at least some got her attention..and others fed of her fame.Great

Had they made an independent video, not just a parody of Deepika's ,they would have been taken more seriously, and there could have been a serious dialogue. Those videos were used by the media to mock and attack indirectly..That is the best they could do😆.

The actresses(not actors) trying to damage Deepika's image or perhaps trying to get some right wing nuts to outrage, are stupid.

Deepika just demonstrated the impact her words have on people..She held the Indian media, social media her slave for a week .The world is a market-The people who hold power, know who they don't want to be on the other side.

We all know how Kjo was abused on twitter for AIB.There has been much outrage, attacks and PILs from people protecting Indian culture.Yet Deepika comes out with a video advocating homosexuality and sexual freedom😲,knowing fully well, what the consequences are going to be.

Those 7 + million views on youtube and 44 k likes show that many understand that very well.

Not once did she advocate adultery or say women can cheat without being being called out for it. That was your interpretation of the video.

The fact remains, that if a MAN cheats on a WOMAN, it is so often because the woman was "unfit" or "unaccommodating". When a WOMAN cheats on a MAN, it's because she is a wh**e who goes behind her husband's back.

Take a quick look at IF fan fiction -- it so wonderfully represents the mindset of the members here.

There are hundreds of stories where Arnav cheats on his wife or significant other... because Khushi comes to fill the void in his vacant existence. There's stories where Arnav's wife does the exact same. One is labeled as a poor, lonely husband and the other a conniving bitch or a s**t.

This is a website where stories are written about men raping women in consistently "romantic" contexts -- where the victim falls in love after realizing the handsome man who sexually assaulted her did so because he was feeling lonely.

I'm no one to say that extramarital affairs are "right". But I sure as hell have a problem when two people who commit the same mistake are treated so differently for doing so, just because of their gender.

Women have the right to "choose" adultery without being called out for it? That's the dumbest thing I've heard today. That's like saying, robber's have the right to "choose" to steal and not get called out for it OR rapists have the right to "choose" to rape without being punished or getting any sort of backlash for it. STUPID CHOICES. Putting such things in a video makes it look like making such choices are OKAY cause you're a women and its your choice. Feminism doesn't mean you should be an entitled bitch. Its about EQUALITY.

I don't get the logic behind putting in such choices in a video just to say #MyChoice. That's as stupid as the YOLO logic. "Hey, I'm gonna jump off a bridge cause YOLO". *rolls-eyes* Yes, they are choices you are free to make but in no way are those choices considered EMPOWERING.

@you2

Yes men did and also talked of how law and society treats them as well.

Power of DP? 😆

You're hung up on views.

It's not power. It is a major publicity stunt to deliberately add such lines and provoke people.

Also, some say not to talk about DP because she didn't write the script while some say this is power of DP. Please first decide what you call it.

Nandita Das will also be called powerful now for riling up people with her all men are potential rapists comment?

This is cheap publicity. Not power.

No no...there is nothing to be sorry about. It's your opinion and I respect that. Again as I said, this is what I thought the video was trying to convey. I don't know what the makers thought exactly. But this equality is my perception of the video. And again I am repeating that this video has its own flaws. Maybe it could have been presented in a better way. But according to me, this is a thought provoking video and it has successfully caused people to think about the current issues about gender equality and feminism.

There was no ill will. I apologize, if that quote of mine offended you.

it doesn't take einstein to figure out that most of the anti deepika and at this moment anti choice comments/threads are from Kat fans, and this year in the forum there are so many nouveau Kat defenders, who are rabid ranbir fans, so automatically they have to be anti deepika. don't understand this anti anyone stand by any fans, no sense of objectivity.

and before all the hypocrite comments start , I'm a proud Katrina hater, actually used to dislike deepika too but she made me a fan with her growth in her acting. and like ranbir onscreen as well, so am not a ranbir hater.

but just baffled at the comments about a video, where women's choices are now even being compared to a choices a rapist makes

Especially when a woman does that to another woman, no? And gives unsolicited advise about how if a woman didn't want to be captured on camera, it should have been her responsibility to be more careful. Like how some people like to say to a girl if you didn't want to get raped, then you shouldn't have worn a short skirt.

Because if the point of this video was that a woman should have the freedom to make the same choices and mistakes a man is able to make without a receiving condemnation for her actions that a man wouldn't have to face, then you would think the woman doing the talking in the video would be the first one to understand that message. Because if I remember correctly, she was the first one to say to another woman that she should have been more careful if she did not want her pictures taken.
