I follow other news and do not rely on celebrity gossip sites to keep myself updated and this is why I know more.

It's evident who has time on hands and how she or he uses it. Reading and judging a country based on YT! šŸ˜†

You CANNOT use your own individual experience either to judge an ENTIRE country. Now let me give you an example, there were attacks on Hindu temple, gurudwaras, Sikh boy and elderly Hindu man in the US. So what do I make of it? Brand an entire country racist and intolerant?
I understand your experience must have made you feel worse. But you cannot project that on an entire country.

Your last comment showed everything. SELECTIVE attention to isolated news, exaggeration of few reports to make it seem as if whole country and whole subcontinent is like that. 🤢

Aamir did not get largely good reaction. That's just YOUR SELECTIVE ATTENTION. You didn't read how even national magazines questioned his research and intention.

You have limited experience. No use talking to you.

I see foreign celebs complain all the time about sexism and trolling. But nobody generalises those countries.

Only for India, you need excuse to bash whole country over a heroine's video.

You're obviously biased and refuse to see all sides. Keep assuming your selective knowledge as the entire picture of India and happenings here. A country of billion plus people is judged like this? Good, if you think so. 😊

Funny you talk of assault while the video you defend, had nothing to say on it. šŸ˜† The reasons for criticising it are entirely different. But you brought your victim story here. Though I was talking about painting DP as victim.

Everyone doesn't know your personal story. So stop projecting your experience on whole country.

It's not about MY generalization. It's about GLOBAL generalization. I live in the United States. I go to a university in the most diverse city in the world, with students from hundreds of countries all over the globe. These are THEIR perceptions, not mine. Shit that a handful of Indian men say in the YT comments doesn't just paint a negative picture for me... it does so for the entire world. Just yesterday, a South Korean girl commented about how had been linked to Deepika's video, and was stunned by how much negativity was in the comment section.

I f**king love India. I was born there. I was raised there. It saddens me that it's given such a shit reputation because of this kind of venom all over the internet. There's a REASON it's called the sexist rape capital of the world. Denying it doesn't mean it's not true.

Aamir DID get a largely good reaction. Just because you say he doesn't doesn't make it the truth. You're not NDTV over here.

There's no use talking to you if I have to keep repeating myself for nothing.

How about finally exercising that "choice of not arguing"? Still waiting for that.

And don't you DARE talk to me about my assault. Don't you DARE talk to me about things you do not know or things you do not experience. You know nothing. The reason I was assaulted is because I was in a dress. I was seen as an easy target to mess with and harass. I was seen as promiscuous and I was objectified just for showing my knees. And that is EXACTLY what her video speaks against.

Goodbye. I don't even want to continue this discussion with you.

I learnt a lot from such discussion. Especially with NRIs on a Bollywood board.

To check all sources of news and weigh in and to not judge anyone or any country based on Youtube comments on celeb videos.

You're hell bent on ignoring proofs of hard news and still hung up on YT comments. šŸ˜†

Keep it up. Not worth further response.

Your insistence on selective attention and trying to project it as GLOBAL perception reeks of bigotry.

I really pity you.

Indian men hurt from this just as much as women do. They're being targeted globally and nationally (and I, for one, can actually provide hard proof on that), yet you're stuck on f**king YT comments and my "selective" attention.

You say you have hard news, but no links. You think your opinion is god and refuse to hear otherwise. You take my comments, manipulate them and use them to suit your own. So what if I'm an NRI? Doesn't make an idiot.

But have a fun life, atominis.

Please do me a favor and don't give a further response. You said that two pages ago, and I'm still waiting for you to stop.

Here's a handful of articles (from hundreds) across the web. Still think it's my perspective about India? Or that I was "selective" in my Google search? Are you that blind as to how Indians are treated by the rest of the world? Open your eyes.

I'm still waiting on those hard facts to back up your claims about SMJ:

Thank you very much 😊
I agree that the video had its flaws.

I agree with most everything in this article wholeheartedly. That does not mean that this video didn't have flaws. Sure it had its flaws and I do understand the other side too. But at the end of the day, Deepika too is just like one of us. The only difference is that she is a well known public figure and we are not. There's always going to be two sides. Everyone will see things in a different manner. Kudos to Deeps. (I am not a worshipper or a fangirl of hers, but the initiative behind all of this is positive and I do support her in what she is doing to raise awareness. I know it will probably not make any difference, but its an effort and initiative that is needed).

Wonderful!

Exactly my point! The video is not saying that whatever men do, is wrong always. Or that women are always right. It is just trying to say that men and women should be treated equally. And equality does not mean that women are only entitled to the benefits and good things that a man enjoys. It refers to the equal treatment, which includes equal privileges and punishment for both genders. This video does not justify adultery. Not once did I hear Deepika saying in the video that adultery is "ok" for women. Not once did I hear that whatever women do, is absolutely right. If men can make a choice of committing adultery, then women can make that choice as well. A choice does not have to be right or wrong. People can make a good choice or a bad choice. But he/she also has to bear the results or consequences of that choice. It's not about right or wrong; it's about the same freedom in making choices and decisions for women as men. I don't understand why women are expected to be perfect in everything. Why is it that women HAVE to be morally correct always? Aren't they humans like men? If a women does a good job, she should be appreciated the same way as a man; if a woman commits a mistake, she should be punished the same way as a man- that's the whole point of the video, I believe.

This video is not about men vs. women as I have seen some people commenting on youtube. And I don't understand the point of bashing Deepika's personal life and choices here. I don't understand how she is being a "hypocrite" as some people say. And I don't even want to tire my brain cells by trying to figure out how the heck this video was sexist!

Some people have said that women empowerment is not all about the type of clothing of women or her sexual preferences. I agree with that. Women empowerment includes that and stretches far beyond. The whole point of women empowerment is the equal freedom and liberty of women. A woman's dressing and sexual preferences fall under that. It's her choice about what she wants to do with her life. Everyone should learn that a woman is able to make her own choice. Just leave her alone, man! She is a mature adult. She can make her own decisions, just like men can.

Just like what Zee-ji said, Deepika and Homi have done a commendable job in the video. According to me, it has conveyed the message of equality nicely. Now if people want to remain ignorant or act like brainless jerks, it's their choice.

But you are responding to the video in the way you want to. As is everyone else. So you are exercising your choice. But then you say you don't support such choices for anyone. Isn't that contradictory?

@Bold -- Yes. 😊

Some people don't recognize that and immediately assume that recognizing a choice means validating a choice.

I am sorry, but where does it say that women should be allowed to get away with cheating? There is a difference between making a choice and making the right choice. And it's important to acknowledge that women do have the choice to cheat. Their fidelity is always taken for granted. People put bollywood male actors who are faithful to their wives on a pedestal, they are constantly being asked how they resist the urge to cheat. When do women in the industry get asked that? Never, because they are expected to be faithful. Because "men will be men, it is not is their nature to be monogamous" bla bla bla. Women get called s**ts for having bfs and a Ranbir can come on a KWK and brag about his "battery low" exploits and only be treated with indulgence. Then when his gf has the gumption to call him out on it, she gets the hate because geez, what a bitch, how dare she offend his male ego. Forget cheating, Ranveer talks about losing his virginity at 11, RK at 15 etc, and no one bats an eye. Can you imagine how people would react if actresses started talking like this? And you say there is no difference between men and women in DP's strata of society. Nonsense.

You who think of YOUTUBE comments as representative of ALL Indians and think of a US university as representative of WHOLE WORLD, will never be convinced even if provided with hard news links.

And yeah, I didn't talk about your assault. You did.

I am talking of D Pad being made victim though she is not.

The discussion is about this video and this video means nothing for situation which you are bashing India for.

You expect people to remain mum if they see lines on extramarital sex? First see the roots of the response. Then talk.

No matter who mouthed such lines, he or she was bound to be criticised. Simple.

Dont u worry šŸ˜‰ From the part of Gujarat where I was raised, NRIs cant wait for the Christmas holidays to come and enjoy it like hell, recharge their batteries and go back to work for next 9-10 months. 😃

And my adopted country NZ is probably the most advance in giving women the equal rights... right from the voting to special status to changing laws to protect women first. It has gone so far that men and some women r raising issues that why its always "men is wrong when accused by women".

So we now have "Fathers rights" group working for the cause... coz women always get custody of child even if shez not at all fit to be mother in care.

Balance is always shifting. Not saying that women r all safe here or anywhere in the world. Neither men. In my last visit to India- last july-Aug. in Haridwar- Hrishikesh... I met so many foreigners roaming around the streets, in Ashrams, in ancient way of treating deceases, loving the way how diff India is.. safe n sound. I was annoyed with heat but they were not. šŸ˜† Ladies wearing minimal but not revealing cloths and it was wow...

I do agree tho, Most NRIs r in mentality of "dhobi ka kutta, na ghar ka na ghat ka". Iam one of those lucky ones who see it "I am having best of the both worlds".

I think the real issue has gone out of window. Its abt which celebrity did. Hero worshipping. For that, we Indians r really to be blamed for. "My fav. can not do no worng".

These online reactions r nothing when it comes to ground reality. But yes, it's a good medium to do "bheja fry". In the end, every1 will stick with his/her opinion. "Meri marjee, mai chahe ye karu, mai chahe vo karu..." šŸ˜†
