Giving up meat is your personal choice. A secular government can't impose that on its citizens. If the government is against animal slaughter then ban should be on everything. If government is after its citizens' better health then ban tobacco and alcohol.

The hoopla is still valid - laws and bans should be secular not communal.

I don't think the Hindus have been taken for a ride.. One key aspect of the new law is that purchase, consumption or possession of cow, buffalo, and bull meat is punishable.. A key concern that the anti-beef proponents had was that beef ( cow), though banned, was being served openly in restaurants and markets.. The new law does bring a very big difference and to make matters simpler for legal purpose, adding bull and buffalo to the list means less scope for pro-beef people to deal with cow meat under the guise of bull/buffalo and the opposers to kick up a fuss due to suspicion..

and once they are old and of no use then leave them on the roads for strarvation and for people to kick them and hurt them when they stop the traffic or cause accidents .
