If Arab countries can ban religious idols, then Maharashtra can ban beef for religious reasons.

I feel sorry for Muslims and Christians living in the country, but at the same time there are Hindus in Arab countries and they have to face the rules of the country too. At least beef is still available in some parts of India.

Arab countries. That's the keyword. It follows one religion, their rules. India is a secular country. You can't impose one religion, one language rule.

I have no problem with beef ban .
But are we going to compare a democratic secular country to a religious dictatorship...didn't know india is falling this low 😕

Besides hindus living in those countries are not residents or Arabs there while muslim/christains in india are born here and are as indians as hindus .

Is India really a democracy? The government has no business babysitting the citizens. To each his own...

Nothing but politics.

Looks like it was once a secular democratic country but thanks to democratically elected achche din its turning more into a authoritarian country.

So the Arab countries are the new benchmark for India now??🤔

India's problem is that it has been far too liberal so far. So when a state introduces something new it doesn't go well with people. It is impossible to people please every community, every religion or every person whose demands are different from others. They accept one community's demands, the other community is always going to be unhappy.

I am a non-vegetarian, even if they banned chicken I wouldn't mind and pull the democracy argument. I enjoy eating it, but I realize it's animal slaughter. As humans we make it seem like we can't possibly survive without meat. There are other ways to look at it. Giving up meat reduces carbon footprint (not like in India that matters).

Leather is not banned.

Nor are there any measures or safeguards to protect cows that have run their life. Once a cow goes dry or a a bull is not a breeder, owners mistreat, ill-treat or abandon them altogether. Slaughter is usually a humane alternative to endless suffering, disease and dangerous abandoned life.

This is truly fifty shades here. Maharashtra loves cows so much that it wants it to have a long suffering life.

Achche din = no listening for minorities and keeping quiet on communal hate speeches
