Misunderstood 😕

"But an honest and unbiased review will not judge too harshly. I found the story thoda hatke... though I had gone after watching the original Thai film..."

Said this was thoda hatke ..'original' was to refer to the film from which it was adapted...did not say this film was original...but thoda hatke. There is a difference.

I didn't find anything thoda hatke either, I haven't watched the original thai version, but most of the scenes were taken from other horror movies that I have watched.

The movie wld probs be a great watch for the fans of the actors. But for someone who is purely a horror genre fan, like myself, it's a disappointment!

Inox where I saw the movie was 50 % full ...and this was a morning show in Goa where 9 a.m is a tad too early😆
Plus it was a working day.

A point to be noted is that the majority ..about 90 % audience were teenagers and girls ...obviously there rooting for Karan 👍🏼

Box Office India reported that the movie had the highest opening of the four major films released that weekend, opening with 50% occupancy nation wide, with "extraordinary " reception and full houses at single screens

Just watched Alone and honestly, I'm disappointed cos I'm a big fan of horror genre. Most of the scenes were a copy of 'The Conjuring' and I wld have found the climax impressive if I hadn't already watched Raaz! I have to agree with the reviews out there, overall the film was a disappointment for me at least cos the scenes were predictable and all of it was way too cliched!

Coming to the main performances, again Bipasha's performance though it was good, but nothing original from her previous horror flicks. It was the usual rona-dhona :\ As far as Karan's concerned, he was impressive as always but in all honesty, there was nothing original in his character either and that isn't good for him as an actor. He seriously needs to pick his next project wisely, cos no doubt he has a lot of potential, but to showcase that he needs a role which actually takes full advantage of his acting abilities to make him stand out amongst all the competition in bollywood.

I agree with you...bipasha is not changing her role

karan looks good in some scene but i found him acting in few scenes rather then being original..!
he has potential for emotional scenes but i didnt found it here much...!

Alone Movie Review : Horror Film starring Bipasha Basu

Bipasha Basu has established herself as the "Scream Queen" of Bollywood by now, having appeared in a spate of horror films in recent years. She is pining her hopes on Alone' which can give her career an extra push. Other than Bipasha, Alone' sees the Bollywood debut of TV heartthrob Karan Singh Grover. The promos and trailers of Alone' have promised a horror film filled with dollops of sex and skin show with extra doses of melodic music. We expect to be spooked by Alone'. Does it fulfil those expectations?

Story: Sanjana (Bipasha 1) and Anjana (Bipasha 2) are Siamese twins who are literally joined at the hip. They promise each other that they will always be there for each other through thick and thin. But unfortunately, both of them fall in love with the same man Kabir (Karan). They go through a surgery to separate their bodies and unfortunately, Anjana meets her death in the process. Years later, when Sanjana and Kabir are happily married and they visit their erstwhile home Anjana comes back to haunt the both of them in spirit form. Alone, after that takes the form of a clichd horror film and goes through familiar twists and turns.

Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover's hot chemistry in Alone

Alone Movie Review

Bhushan Patel who directed the sleeper hit Ragini MMS' is back with the genre that he is familiar with. Whilst Ragini MMS' was a classier take on the horror genre, Alone' is sexier and more commercial. Bhushan does a better job at directing a horror flick than most of his contemporaries. Alone is a tolerable film and can even be enjoyed by the horror aficianados. What can confuse a general casual viewer is the confusion that comes across about which aspect the director chose to highlight - the sexy erotic angle or the horror angle. Bhushan tries to take the middle route but it is more of a miss than a hit.

The technical aspects of Alone' are very good. The production values are good and the film has been shot well with the scenic backwaters of Kerala looking beautiful.

Alone' has the usual horror film soundtrack with a few romantic songs, one thrilling song with fast beats and even sneaks in an item number. Overall, it is a decent soundtrack.

Bipasha Basu is the highlight of Alone' because she plays both the villain and the heroine. That could have turned out to be a difficult job for her but she is a seasoned actress and is used to the tropes of horror by now. She does a fine job with both her roles. She is pleasing to look at as the sexy lead Sanjana and she scares us enough with her terrific transformation to Anjana the evil spirit twin! Karan Singh Grover is alright as the lead hero Kabir but he doesn't really have a lot of material to work with since his only job seems to be to look good and show off his sculpted abs.

Overall, Alone' is a decent horror film and can be enjoyed by people who like the genre. It has all the usual clichd tropes that we expect from an erotic horror thriller.

Positives:

  • Bipasha Basu is in stellar form
  • The cinematography and visual effects are fairly good
  • The director uses the clichd horror trappings to tell a well-rounded scary film
  • The music is melodious but not unforgettable.

Negatives:

  • It tries to rise above the genre but fails
  • The story lacks a different edge and is solely dependent on the original film's storyline (Alone' is a remake of a Thai film of the same title)
  • It fails in trying to merge both the erotic and horror genres

BO update: New releases start on a slow note

By Bollywood Hungama News Network, January 16, 2015 - 14:15 IST

It certainly seems like the weeks post the release of PK have been running low with the newer releases not being able to pick up pace at the box office. While last week's Arjun Kapoor - Sonakshi Sinha film TEVAR, proved to be a letdown, this week we see the release of four films ALONE, I, CRAZY CUKKAD FAMILY (CCF) and SHARAFAT GAYI TEL LENE (SGTL). While ALONE caters to the growing horrex (horror-sex) genre, I rests firmly in the action romance zone. The other two, CCF and SGTL cater to the comedy- satire genres. With each film being equally different from the other the audiences have multiple choices depending on their preference.

Though expectations for all four of the new releases have been rather low, reports suggest that ALONE featuring Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover, has opened on a good note as compared to the others. On the other hand I, that is inspired by 'Beauty and the Beast' has opened slightly lower than ALONE, while CCF and SGTL do not feature morning shows.

On the whole, thanks to the growing genre of horrex and a better screen count, ALONE stands a better chance at enticing the audience, while I, despite the action and visuals faces a drawback due to its length which might just deter the audience. CCF and SGTL that will open only later in the day have an uphill task of standing out from the clutter. However all four films will have to rely heavily on good word of mouth to post decent collections.

I think Bipasha needs to take a break from horror genre cos she's done it one too many times already and now it just looks repetitive and forced. I have never been impressed by any actor other than Grover when television is concerned, but in bollywood there is so much talent and such amazing actors and so to stand out among them can be very difficult. Grover doesn't lack talent or acting abilities, but the kind of roles and genres you take up do make a difference, this role wasn't all that bad but nothing that would have made him stand out either!
