Looking forward to watching it on ott
Heard great things about Rashmika’s acting
This movie is out now looking forward
Will watch it...
Watched it and didn’t like it
I like the concept they chose of a female perspective on the whole “alpha male toxic” relationships …like the antidote to arjun reddy/kabir Singh
But here is the problem
Arjun reddy and kabir Singh had problematic ideas but excellent execution
The girlfriend has empowering ideas but flawed execution
Overall as a film it dosent quite hold because the characters are never as compelling …they are all straight up one dimensional…good girl bad guy …so the conflict is never engaging enough …ur just waiting for her to grow her confidence and get out of the relationship …ur not exactly as conflicted as her abt whether or not to be in such a relationship so the journey dosent feel as cathartic as its supposed to be..
It’s like omg so obvious leave this idiot now from the first scene itself ….with kabir Singh ur also told of the good aspects of his character - his passion for medicine, how he’s a topper , how there is a genuine bond between him and preethi…how he helps preethi with her work and chores …so u can understand why a girl like preethi might not want leave the relationship despite his shitty traits …that’s way more interesting that this one dimensional bad guy good girl approach here …
…I did like anu Emmanuel here the most - she was great as the feisty friend and I liked how they showed her friendship with Rashmika …
The rest of the toxic relationship drama… didnt work for me …
I liked the movie great acting by everyone especially the leads, Durga and the professor Sudheer
Vikram was a red flag with the forced kissing/ relationship, forcing her to watch the movie breaking the hostel rule, making her feel guilty for going with her friends, making her clean his room and feed him, his silenced mother who was more like a maid, after the theatre performance, painting the door as if she is a sl*t and not leaving her in peace.
The film did show some positives about Vikram like he never hit her, was loyal and promised to provide for her needs.
The turning point was when Bhooma met Vikram's mother. The child in her never wanted to be fearful like Vikram's mother.
Her father was toxic too, he was so rude to her since childhood. He had no sympathy or consideration for her feelings. Maybe he did not know how to discipline his daughter properly while showing her love. They did not show how Bhooma and her dad reconciled specifically.
Poor Bhooma kept curling up in a ball on her bed whether with her father or boyfriend.
I liked the ending the heroine achieving her dreams rather than attaining a chauvinistic and regressive man. The film is exactly how any toxic love story (like Kabir Singh) should end.
