I've watched the original south movie Chrulata and I thought the movie had scope if given right treatment.I don't think the story has much scope of horror, but yes, thriller.Hope the movie turn out better than the original one

Just watched Alone and honestly, I'm disappointed cos I'm a big fan of horror genre. Most of the scenes were a copy of 'The Conjuring' and I wld have found the climax impressive if I hadn't already watched Raaz! I have to agree with the reviews out there, overall the film was a disappointment for me at least cos the scenes were predictable and all of it was way too cliched!

Coming to the main performances, again Bipasha's performance though it was good, but nothing original from her previous horror flicks. It was the usual rona-dhona :\ As far as Karan's concerned, he was impressive as always but in all honesty, there was nothing original in his character either and that isn't good for him as an actor. He seriously needs to pick his next project wisely, cos no doubt he has a lot of potential, but to showcase that he needs a role which actually takes full advantage of his acting abilities to make him stand out amongst all the competition in bollywood.

I have no idea why the movie is not getting good reviews ...and where specifically it is not getting good reviews.

It will not be a high grosser like PK and to be honest we did not expect that to begin with ...and these factors are beyond our control honestly. The genre is a difficult one... and not very attractive to an audience bred on the typical romantic, rona, dhona and hackneyed films loved by them...full of numerous and irrelevant song ,dance and item numbers. So the critics who cater to this section will be apprehensive.

But an honest and unbiased review will not judge too harshly. I found the story thoda hatke... though I had gone after watching the original Thai film...it was a new concept for Indian viewers and very well adapted. I feel Bhushan Patel executed the changes very adroitly. Honestly when I had heard them speak of the changes I was scared that they may turn to dramatized jadu tona typical of Indian films but I was pleasantly surprised to find a slick and classy production. I think BP has done a good job of directing this film and I will give him due credit for that. I did not however find it so scary ..I thought that was because of over promoting the film over such a vast cross section of visual and print media. This was required but may have eroded the chill factor. I heard no shrieks from the audience. I think a film from this genre needs to be kept under wraps to excite the audience to the maximum.

As for the performances they were top class.I rate Karan's performance very high as it was so natural .I liked him underplaying Kabir ...he looked so normal.Give the role to an established actor and they would have hashed it with all the starry jhatkas typical of most Bollywood actors...ie if they had been brave enough to take up the film to begin with. Kabir joins Armaan and Asad as highly loved characters of the Indian entertainment industry👍🏼

Karan's repertoire of much loved characters grows with this one.

Bipasha is an established actress and familiar with this genre so her performance was as expected. I confess though that I found her make up too loud and her physique a tad masculine...lending a synthetic quality to her persona...but that should not undermine Bipasha's act.

The support cast is good .It was a surprise to see Neena Gupta in the film and I liked the house keeper and her daughter in law's effort .The psychologist friend also put up a spirited performance . So from the acting department the film is surely above average.

It was a pleasant surprise to see that the sexy scenes much over hyped in the numerous promos did not jar in the film. In fact they have been filmed very slickly and fitted very expertly in the flow of the movie,Not at all x-rated ...I have seen much worse in Hindi films of late with U certificates...crassly directed. Full marks to BP, KSG & Bipasha for enacting these scenes with a touch of class.

The songs were mercifully short and again fitted in the flow of the story...all of them immensely catchy ..my favourite being 'Chand aasmano sey lapaata hogaya ...' The background score was adequate except that raising the volume of the music to a crescendo when the ghost is to appear was an unnecessary give away that could have been avoided.

The lighting department excelled specially for the climax. No complaints there.

The setting was another plus point. Kerela was an excellent choice and the house spooky enough.

In conclusion I would say that Alone can not be rated as just a horror film. It is more a story of unrequited love, unfulfilled promises, jealousy and intrigue. The story is unusual and it would have fared better if it had been kept under wraps.

I would rate the film 3.5 /5 .

^^ What was original in the film? All the scenes were so predictable lol and a mixture of The Conjuring and Raaz! Nothing was original and that's why I personally didn't find the film as good, so I'd have to say most of the reviews are pretty much bang on! I'm not even talking about the performances here, but solely the content of the film, which was just cliched and nothing innovative.

Great that his fans enjoyed it though 😆

Alone scares' up good numbers at ticket counter

This week, there are four Hindi releases - Bhushan Patel's Alone featuring Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover; Shankar's I, which released in Hindi featuring Vikram and Amy Jackson; Ritesh Menon's Crazy Cukkad Family featuring Swanand Kirkire and Shilpa Shukla; and Gurmmeet Singh's Sharafat Gayi Tel Lenefeaturing Zayed Khan and Ranvijay Singh.

Of this clutch of releases, only one of them - Alone - has hit the bull's eye and opened with 50 per cent occupancy all over India. In many circuits, the film has been running house full. Alone has been doing extraordinary business in single-screens. Whereas I opened with 10 per cent all over India, started with their second show for want of audience. Distributors feel Alone will clock magical numbers at the box office. Over to them:

Rajesh Thadani, Multimedia Combines, Mumbai

It appears that movie-goers have turned their attention back to the silver screen and, as a result, Aloneopened with 50 per cent all over India and in Mumbai too. The movie has stirred more interest at single-screens than multiplexes. Shankar's I has not yet hit the right chord as it opened with only 10 per cent but the film could grow by evening. Crazy Kukkad Family and Sharafat Gayi Tel Lene opened with 5 per cent each. Many shows were cancelled due to lack of occupancy.

Brijesh Tandon, HK Tandon and Company, Delhi-UP

Bipasha Basu's Alone opened with 40 per cent in Delhi and UP and the numbers climbed to 50 per cent from the second show. The film will see housefull shows by evening. The South film I didn't take a great opening in our circuit and the rest of the films opened at 5 per cent. Only Alone will work this week.

Jaspal Dhingra, Nanaskar Enterprises, East Punjab

It's very cold in Punjab but in spite of that, Alone opened with 40 per cent in multiplexes and 60 per cent in single-screen cinemas. Alone was a very well-promoted film with great music and a fantastic trailer. As a result, the film took a good opening and is expected to grow. Unfortunately, last week's Tevar is a complete washout. I didn't take a good opening, at 5 per cent. The rest of the films opened with 3 to 4 per cent.

Debashish Dey, Aum Moviez, West Bengal

Alone opened with 40 per cent at single-screens and 30 per cent in multiplexes, which is very good for a Bipasha Basu and debutant Karan Singh Grover film. It's definitely better than Tevar! Vikram starrer Iopened with 15 per cent, which is a decent opening for a South-dubbed film but the content is very good.

Sarang Chandak, Shri Rang Films, CP

Alone opened with 25 per cent in multiplexes and 30 per cent in single-screens. Collections grew from the second show onwards, and occupancy climbed to 60 per cent. This film will definitely enjoy a good weekend, especially at multiplexes. I didn't take a very great opening, as expected. It is also a very long film. The other films had their shows cancelled as no one turned up to watch them.

Jeetu Khandelwal, Pioneer Films, Orissa

It seems like we will have a hit film in Alone, which opened at 70 per cent in single-screens and whose first show was housefull at multiplexes. So, without a doubt, Alone will be a superhit. Vikram's I opened with 30 per cent, which is very good for a South film dubbed in Hindi. The only drawback is that this film is too lengthy.

Ravi Machhar, Sahyog Films, Nizam

Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover's Alone took a 70-per cent opening, which is huge for such a star cast. The film is doing stronger business in single-screens than at multiplexes. It's a film for the youth and a very complicated genre but it seems like it will do great business. I didn't turn out as expected. Also, last week's release Tevar didn't do good business at all. Crazy Cukkad Family and Sharafat Gayi Tel Lenereleased in a very limited number of screens with limited shows.

This data is absolutely inaccurate ...Alone has released in abt 1000 screens and the morning opening was abt 10% .
Anyway trade sites will quote the budget when they talk abt the daily collections , so we will get correct info.
