PK has taken fantastic opening in multiplexes.. Opening occupancies is biggest of year at many places in West Bengal, Mysore and MUMBAI City.. East Punjab has also taken mammoth opening..

Overall plexes have taken huge opening of around 75% and with maximum number of shows there and expected growth in eve then Day One at plexes might come out biggest ever..

At mass centres start is quite slow and is in range of 50% which is decent result for a film like PK as it has major audience in metro places..

Going by early occupancies with release in around 3850 screens movie should come out amongst top 3 opening days of 2014..

Anushka Sharma is seriously excellent in the film. Her best ever. Raju's heroines have meaty roles, but I think Anushka takes the cake.

Sushant Singh Rajput has a blink and miss role in #PK. Anushka delievers a solid performance.

'PK' (Peekay) First Day Box Office Collection: Aamir's Movie gets Decent Opening in Bengaluru

Aamir Khan's much-awaited "PK" aka "Peekay" has opened to decent numbers in Bengaluru. The Bollywood flick was released worldwide on 19 December.

"PK" will have around 330 shows in Bengaluru and it is said to be the biggest for an Aamir Khan movie after "Dhoom 3", which approximately had 300 shows on the release day. The advance booking was started for this flick started a few days ago and it got good response from the actor's fans.

As per local traders, the response for the morning shows in the city is average but the evening shows have met tremendous success. In most multiplexes and single screens, the tickets for the first day evening shows have been completely sold out in Bengaluru.

The occupancy ranges from 40-80 % for the shows of Aamir Khan's "PK" in the city. A theatre owner says: "The craze around the movie is good but no comparison with Aamir Khan's 'Dhoom 3'. His last-year's hit film had got never-before response for the advance booking. But this movie has not attracted the audience to that level."

"For the morning shows, "PK" is booked mostly by youths. But it is the evening shows that is set to make a big differences. The tickets have been booked in bulk by family audience and this ensures a good collection for the movie in the Garden City on the opening day," he added.

The biggest benefit "PK" is getting in Bangalore is that the film is not facing any competition. Rajinikanth's Tamil movie "Lingaa" was expected to give a tough fight to the film, but the negative word-of-mouth has not helped it and the craze around the flick has fizzled out.

The traders are hesitant to predict "PK" collection in Bangalore as the film has met with decent response in the opening day. "Had the film got a reception like "Dhoom 3", the film would have made a record-breaking business in Bengaluru on the first day," says a trader.
