Thanks for sharing ColdestWinter. I had read a lot of media/tabloid reports on this break up but this is the first time I'm coming across this tid bit. I wonder if this picture still exists somewhere in the World Wide Web.

A year or so after Abhishek and Aishwarya got married Jaya Bachchan in an interview was asked about what happened between Abhishek and Karisma. She said that Abhishek never divulged to her or his Dad what happened and why he made the decision that he made, implying that it was Abhishek who broke it off.

Karisma on the other hand was said to have had a nervous breakdown after her break up with Abhishek. After her marriage date with Sanjay was announced she gave an interview and one if the things she said was that after everything that she had been through her parents were keen for her to settle down.

On KWK years ago Karan asked Kareena if she had problems with the Bachchans. She said she didn't and she had become an escape goat in a situation that she had absolutely nothing to do with. I don't know if she was referring to brining Karisma and Abhi together or if there were rumors that she played a part in the break up. But I do remember reading quotes from her after the break up saying it was unfortunate what happened but Abhishek is a great guy and whomever he ends up with is a lucky girl. But this was before Abhishek and Aishwarya were even dating. Ironically in the above mentioned KWK episode which was after Abhishek and Aishwaya's engagement she seemed kind of catty towards Aishwarya.

Babita always seemed very preoccupied with wealth power and prestige. Karisma in one of her very early interviews was telling a story of how every Sunday her Mom would dress the three of them (Babita, Karisma and Kareena) in their best outfits and take them to an expensive restaurant frequented by Bollywood big shots just to let everyone know she was doing fine on their own. But one time she didn't have enough money and had to sell her gold bangle or something. Karisma was so proud of this story. But in my mind and thought it is a horrible lesson to imprint on your children. It has always been believed that Karisma was pushed into acting at a very young age by her Mom so she could bring in income.
