Does Alia have it in her to give Deepika a run for her money? - Page 6

I think Alia is a good performer! She was very raw in SOTY but I thought she was fab in 2 States. She already has had 2 hits this year! Only problem with her is she has such a kiddy face but in time I think she will be more a woman & then I don't think there is no stopping her. That being said, true strength of an actor is to survive flops & stay relevant & then she is a Bhatt who are all known to be temperamental, finicky! So who knows what all phases Alia will go thro' in the next few yrs. I think she is the best of the newer lot & will be a big competition to not only DP but also Anu, Sona who I think are the current rivals for DP! Kat, PC & Bebo have moved beyond & will always have enough movies made for them due to the kind of roles they play or their contacts. Alia can be one of the biggest stars if she does continue to follow the path set for her.

DP's edge over Alia right now is Alia's lack of sexiness. If anyone will start giving DP, Katrina, PC in that department its going to Jacky not Alia.

I dont think Jacky can pull of a RamLeela or Devdas...Those heroines like Aish,Madhuri,Karisma etc who were complete package of sorts are missing in this generation...If a newbie actress arrives who can fit in the above category,she is sure to steal everyone's thunder...Sharing good chemistry with all the new gen actors is also gonna be a crucial factor for future NO:1..there are many newcomers being introduced in the industry right now...Thats why I say,future is unpredictable..

In India a successful female star has to be a man's fantasy woman first before being a good actress. Else Katrina wouldnt have reached the top. And nor would DP. Aish, Madhuri, Sri all were fantasy women first. Jacky's age factor will stop her from being the no. 1 as she has a relatively shorter career ahead of her now. Alia has good chances of getting there. But the sexiness factor will have to rectified and she will take time to do that. Till then Katrina's and to some extent DP's competition will be Jacky. Alia right now is set to be the Ranbir of her generation that is the first choice for younger girl next door roles.

Right now, she can't compete with Deepika on the basis of sex appeal because she simply can't look sexy. So if she does give DP a run for her money, it'll have to be on the basis of giving hits + getting critical acclaim..which is possible.

As for who had better opportunities, I'd say they are both pretty equal. Deepika might like to pull the outsider card but frankly her struggle hasn't even been 1% that of a regular outsider in BW. I'd say her struggle has been equivalent to that of a star kid.

Star kids are given opportunities like films are for sale. Look at KJO what he is doing for Sid, Alia or Varun. Or Jacky Bhagani guy, his father keeps making films for him.

And please explain how deepika's struggle is DIFFERENT then a "regular/outsider "struggle?

DP got plethora of opportunities as well irrespective of how her films did. She signed YJHD after giving 5 duds in a row. Someone like Anushka had to struggle a lot more to get opportunities. Her being wooden in early days doesn't constitute to any struggle. Maybe she wasn't naturally talented or took time to learn the trade.

As for whether she can overtake and topple deepika . It's not question of can but how soon . I say in 1.5 to 2 years alia is at the top of the bollywood mountain

Too early to say..And its an unfair comparison cos DP has been in the industry for 7 years while Alia is just 2 years old..We need to wait for a couple of years before we start with the comparisons 😆 Ppl have issues when someone says Ranbir has a better filmography than say a Ranveer or the SOTY boys because he came in much earlier & we shouldn't compare them in the first place😆 So i guess we need to apply the same logic here..That said, while i think both Alia & DP have proven themselves as good actors, neither of them are natural performers IMO..But am not taking anything away from them cos i thought Alia was brilliant in 2 States..Just that i'd still say someone like Parineeti is the more natural performer compared to these two..

P.S. I understand nepotism is annoying but star kids are always pulled down saying they get better opportunities..Yeah, its true they have a huge advantage over the outsiders but a Ranbir was brilliant in Barfi not because he is a Kapoor but because the guy is talented..Same with Alia..She did well in Highway & 2 States not because she is Mahesh Bhatt's daughter or KJo's favorite..You can be given 100 opportunities on a platter but at the end of the day, its your talent that sustains..You have to make use of them in the right way and i think Alia is doing just that..
