Does Alia have it in her to give Deepika a run for her money? - Page 5

Not a fan of either but Alia is a much better actress than Deepika. There is already too much hype around her, so just imagine her status after a few yrs, wen she actually grows up.

LAK was the second biggest grosser of the year and an out and out love story. Problem was that DP lacked screen presence in early years and couldn't make much of an impact unlike other actors who worked with Imtiaz. She improved tremendously later but Alia got over that phase right after SOTY. Alia managed to get critical acclaim for a film like 2 States and that's what DP couldn't do earlier in her career even with LAK. OSO wasn't flower pot role either. She had a lot of scope to perform.

KJo's backing obv. works in Alia's favor but she is also very smart with her movie choices...and she obv. has the talent.

Well you know, Alia has had a great, great 2014 till now...both critically and commerically! This year belongs to her, that's a foregone conclusion!

But does she have the staying power of Deepika or say Katrina? Too early to say! Sometimes films doing well are just a matter of chance! An actor choses a great script and acts well and that film turns out to be a hit...basically everything works. But that doesn't happen all the time!

Like you said, it was Deepika's year in 2013...she chose good films, she gave good performances and all her films turned out to be BB. Is 2014 going to be like that for her? I doubt it...she has just two films coming out and one of them is not even a proper film! (FFF) The other is an ensemble cast (HNY) where she will be lucky to just stand out! But then 2015 is again going to be good for her...Piku, BM and Tamasha. They all sound like potential superhits on paper already!

I have no idea about Alia's future line-up, but it seems unlikely that she is going to get films such as Highway, 2 States and HSKD very soon. Most likely, she will do good films, but they might not work wonders for her like these film did.

Overall, I do think that Alia has great staying power, she is quite pretty to looka at, is very talented and has shown lots of intelligence in chosing scripts till now! But I don't think she will dethrone anyone so quickly...maybe in 3 to 4 years, she will become the undisputed number 1, but she has not reached that stage yet.

Givng an established superstar a run for their money doesn't just mean giving a couple of back to back hits, but also surviving the flops, still being on every director's wishlist and still making the headlines!

Do you think Alia can do Race or Cocktail or RL?? She can act but she won't be convincing enough...Alia is a good actor but because of her babyish looks she is very limited right now...even the Saturday song was comical in HSKD...she cannot pull of those intense sexy roles like Leela...because for that she will be required to look a little grown up...How many times can she play a sweet, bubbly, next door girl or a student???

Her giving DP a run for her money in the near future doesn't look feasible right now...maybe in the next 5-6 years...

I want Alia to keep growing with every movie...dont want over expectations to tire her out already...I dont wanna place bets or pine all hopes on any of my favs(be it be Sid or Alia) currently as future is unpredictable...I just hope Alia continues to give her best in every character she essays and never fails to put in the right amount of hard work and dedication 😊
