*DOTW: Remakes-better than the Original?*

Time for a new DOTW! 😃

In the past days, we've all been discussing the same: Remakes.

Be it the remake of DON or Umrao Jaan , everyone's eagerly waiting for the realese of these movies and for the final cast of the Sholay remake.

Now what do You think? Can remakes be better than the original movie?

Can the actors playing in a remake live upto the expectations?

Doesn't everyone expect more from such actors and actresses?

Don't we automatically try to compare the actors of the original movie and the remake?

Yes, why not, for example Dilip Kumar/Vaijayanthimala's Devdas is considered the best Devdas though it was a remake of another Devdas which was made in 1940s . In any case there are very few examples of remakes in Hindi Cinema, so we can't draw any useful conclusion.

Can the actors playing in a remake live upto the expectations?

Again, not many examples so can't really say anything but it is also imp to note that yesteryear's actors were brilliant so it will be unfair for current crop of actors too even come anywhere near them.

Yes, it is inevitable.

There ain't many examples of Remakes in Hindi Cinema so it'll be interesting see if the remakes being made match the originals.

sometimes yes, i felt devdaas was made very nicely and gave the same expression and feelings like the old one

that also depends..if the actors are good and they act accrdingly i thought SRK, aish and madhuri were fabulous in devdas

yes expections goes up very much, we expect the same acting like the other actors

yes we do and we will surely do now also when other remakes come. like now SRK he will be comapred to amit ji or be it cast of umraojaan comparison is always done

well as SRK said old movies are remade because we at old times didnt watch those movies so now when we understand movies, so if old movies are remade we will watch them this time and cherish that our conema was so good before too

hmmm...its hard 2 say which one will be better... the remake can be better than the original in its picturization, music, costumes etc... but I really think that remake cannot be better than the original if taken as a whole...

I wont say they cant... but definitely not in an amitab bachan movie... No one can do a role better than amitab bachan... As Karan says he is the GOD of Indian cinema and no one can beat the GOD!!!I really dont think in DON srk wud have done a better job dan Amitab... actually der is no comparison between the two... I think SRK will over act in the movie... watever it b wn I think of DON, only amitab bachans name comes 2 my mind...

Ofcourse... otherwise why wud v go 2 watch a remake... we are definitely expecting something more frm the original... in terms of acting as well as everything else...

Oh yeah... we do...

It really depends on what movie is remade, and the storyline and who's acting in it, the originals are really well done, but yes a remake may make it more interesting and different if a slightly different story was introduced or if they added some new elements into it.

Depends on the movie and story, yes I think actors in the remakes can live upto expectations, it really depends on the movie, if the story is changed or if something new is introduced, also who's acting in the film, in my opinion since they are remaking Don, the best choice for the title role is Shahrukh and he will do a nice job, so it really depends on how they make the movie.

Yes everyone does expect more, something even bigger and better, there is a lot of pressure on the actors since pple expect it to be better or as good as the original.

Yes we do tend to do that, i think we should give the actor's a chance, yes its hard not to compare.

Nope, i dont think so. They have a copied storyline and since its not original i dont think they will do well. But then again, i thought Devdas was made well. But classics like DON,Sholey, Umrao Jaan which are still popular should not be done.

Nope. I dun think that Ash can ever do justice to her role in Umrao Jaan. The original is soo much better. Ash can never protray that much emotions and talk with her eyes and all. As much as i love SRK, i dont think he will do justice to AB as DON *hopes laks or eishu arent around to catch me on this statement*😳😆

Yes. They will be compared to the original and that comparison is valid. I mean with the release of DON, everyone is going to be saying how AB was better than SRK (trust me, the other way - its not going to happen) and all. So, if ur going to do a role which is done, get ready for comparison or bluntly put - CRITICISM.

Like i said earlier, we do.and again its an apt comparison. They have done a movie done by someone else, y not compare the two?
