I think a few here are underrating Aishwarya's filmography. I'll take Ash's filmography over Rani, Madhuri, Kajol, Preity's anyday. That's what its about.

same..Also I loved more of Aish's performances than Kajol, Maduri and Rani or Preity. While Kajol and Rani are great actress..there's no performances of theirs that I want to watch over and over again.

Ash is NOT iconic .. no way is she an icon as an actor. She f***ed up her career by getting involved with Salman and then breaking up and standing up against him. Her immature dramatic personal life costed her a career that could have been beyond stardom. She had the raw talent that could have been nurtured with time, but then she got thrown out of most of the big projects. She went westwards just because BW was not offering her much anymore but then she met the Bachchans and luck smiled on her again. She did well in few more movies but then age took its toll and it was time to be a mommy.
I don't know why Salman fans blame Ash for his bad times .. it's not like Ash is a saint but she ruined what could have been the most envious career of all times. She is still sort of relevant but not because of her acting career but because she is beautiful and is a Bachchan. She acts alright and has given some good performances and some blockbusters BUT that is nowhere near what she actually could have achieved.

Flops don't matter. Both Salman and Kareena used to a have long list of flops. But they were still such big stars. People love SRK and Amitabh more as stars than actors.
Flops matter only if no one wants to hire you anymore and you start losing your fans. I barely remember which movies were hits and which movies were flops 10 years ago. All that matters is that you keep your fans happy.

If Aishwarya is only popular because of her looks then why is she still popular? She doesn't look as good as she used to when she was young, infact for a long time she was realy overweight and didn't look her best. Yet her fan following still supported her. So we cannot credit her beauty until this day, because there are lots of girls who are in better shape and look better than her.

Beauty fades, yet her popularity has remain intact. I also don't understand why people are dismissing Ash's popularity on social media and the internet. The world revolves around the internet today why should her online popularity be dismissed? Just because some people don't agree with it?

I think for different people, Icons mean different things - for that, to each his own. But my personal opinion on this matter, is that its very easy to be a top heroine while working with top actors and top banners ...but its very hard to take on risky movies that flop but STILL maintain your star status. I think the latter is a bigger achievement.

If you really analyze Rani and Preity's filmography, (from a box office point of view) all they did was work with Top Actors, and get hit movies. Where was the risk? They all seemed like safe movies. If you take The Khans, Kjo and Chopra's out of their filmography they are left with nothing.

And their "female centric" films failed big time Ishq in Paris and Aiya...whereas people STILL Remember Aishwarya in Raincoat, Chokar Bali, Provoked and so on. The movies may have flopped but her performance were solid. The audiences werent ready for female movies back then otherwise if they came out today im sure they would do well or at the very least be more appreciated.

I think it is unfair when people say a certain actress only got where she is due to her looks. Which bollywood actress is ugly? None of them. Each one of them is prettier than the next. You need more than a pretty face to make a place for yourself.

Really? People still remember Aish in Raincoat, Chokar Bali, Provoked? I don't remember her for any of her roles in those particular films. I remember her for her roles in HDDCS and etc.

Exactly you said it yourself. Rani's Aiyyaa flopped big time, but her performance was solid.

Well just because you don't remember it that doesn't mean that the whole world doesnt 😆 Raincoat is surely remembered, Aishwarya was nominated for Best Actress that year for it, and even won critics best actress at Zee I believe. I doubt that something "forgettable" would get nominated, the award shows are not that dumb to nominate a performance that isn't appreciated or at least watched.

Rani' Aiyya didn't even get her a nomination and you think that people remember that film? LOL

i feel there is somehting more for aishwariya ..its not just abt beauty but also her intelligence, personality, way of carrying herself..we cant deny these things.Because there is one other actress Dia mirza and i feel she is also very much pretty but she achieved nothing compared to ash or any other heroine in BW...moreover salman's passion for ash also added to her beauty...their love story and break up is as famous as ash herself and same for salman too (not exxagerating)...her acting career just added to all of this...and i too beleive there is somehting in her which makes her special...
