Diljit Dosanjh mourns Rajvir Jawanda’s passing after singer succumbs to injuries

Punjabi singer and actor Rajvir Jawanda’s sudden demise has sent shockwaves through the industry and fans alike. Social media platforms are filled with messages of grief, and Diljit Dosanjh also shared a heartfelt tribute on his Instagram handle.

On Wednesday evening, Diljit posted an old photograph of Rajvir during his visit to the Golden Temple in Amritsar, captioning it simply, ‘Waheguru’ in Punjabi. The actor of Amar Singh Chamkila chose not to add more words, reflecting the overwhelming sadness surrounding the loss.

Rajvir Jawanda passed away on Wednesday morning at 10:55 am. He had been hospitalized for 11 days following a serious road accident in Himachal Pradesh. Doctors confirmed that he succumbed to multiple organ failure despite intensive medical care.

Fortis Hospital, Mohali, issued a statement confirming his death: “Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda passed away at 10:55 AM on October 8, 2025, at Fortis Hospital, Mohali. He was admitted on September 27, 2025, in an extremely critical condition following a road accident that caused severe spinal injuries and brain damage. Despite extensive medical support and continuous monitoring by the Critical Care and Neurosurgery teams, he succumbed to multiple organ failure this morning. Our deepest condolences to his family and fans.”

The accident had occurred on September 27 near Baddi in Solan district while Rajvir was traveling to Shimla. He sustained severe head and spinal injuries and was initially treated at a hospital in Solan, where he suffered a cardiac arrest. He was then moved to a private hospital in Mohali, where his condition remained critical with minimal brain activity.

Rajvir Jawanda had made his mark in Punjabi music with popular tracks like Surname, Kamla, Mera Dil, and Sardari. He also ventured into films, acting in Jind Jaan, Mindo Taseeldarni, and Kaka Ji.

His last rites are scheduled for October 9 at 11 am in his native village Pona near Jagraon, Punjab. The industry and fans continue to mourn the untimely loss of a talented artist whose career and life ended far too soon.
