@Smarie, agree with you. Abhishek has been very lucky in the kind of roles he has got...3 Mani Ratnam films with fabulously written, author-backed role and he could not make one work!😕
I saw the hindi Raavan and then I saw the tamil version with Vikram essaying the same role. OMG...the difference between both the actors is astronomial! Abhishek cannot get even a fraction of Vikram's intensity or depth in the way he portrays the character! Any wonder, Raavan made money in the Tamil Version and sank without a trace in the hindi one!Same with Yuva...look at the way Madhavan gets under the skin of the role and the way Abhishek cartoonifies the very same character.Agree, that Abhishek might be a nice guy off-screen (well even that is under threat after this episode of KWK😆), but he has always been over-rated as an actor by critics. He is very average, he does well in films like Dostana and BB, but give him a multi-layered character like in Yuva or Raavan and he flounders so badly. And whom is he taking a dig at? Hrithik? Even if Senior B would make a film for his son, can Abhishek guarantee to bring in the numbers at the BO like Hrithik does? So what if Rakesh Roshan made Krrish for his son, even Hrithik turned it into a money spinner. It works both ways!
poppy...🤗...missed ur awesome posts...
abhishek as an actor just comes with a huge disconnect to me onscreen...like therz no passion, no spontaneity, no originality in what he does...i see all those things in the new actors like ranveer and sushant...they might still have a long way to go and improve as actors, but they "work" onscreen...abhishek dosent...
he lacks charisma, he lacks screen presence and thats got nothing to do with looks...look at D3...aamir is like this short, stout, kiddish looking umpa lumpa and abhsihek is much taller and mature looking...but abhishek still didnt look like he could take on aamir in their confrontation scenes...i find that hilarious actually.😆
plus, he just gives this lazy vibe...so lazy...vikram and madhavan bought so much more depth into those roles...and even surya who dubbed for him in Guru (Tamil version) made HIM look so much better merely because of his dialogue delivery...
i never liked him as an actor but i liked him as a guy offscreen...acting never seemed like his thing anyway...but now he just seems too bitter and lazy...

(And surprisingly Rani does as great a job as Meera Jasmin did in the tamil version!)Agree, that Abhishek might be a nice guy off-screen (well even that is under threat after this episode of KWK😆), but he has always been over-rated as an actor by critics. It works both ways! Also, either have the acting chops of an Irfaan Khan or Jack Nicholson and then look like a bag of potatoes for all one cares, or make the effort to at least look presentable if you are in the profession of acting in films. Whatever the likes of Sushant and Ranveer might be, they keep themselves fit because they value their fans and realize that part of their success and their future in bollywood depends on how good (and fit) they look!PS: Cannot take anyone who made a film like TMK seriously. Certainly not if that person is married to someone who made a film like Joker!😆
