Why different rules for actresses?

I just don't get this, why actresses are looked down upon and most recent example Kareena. People are saying her career is over. But why? Just because she's an actress, is in her 30s and is married. Why these lame reasons?
I know her script choice nowadays is not brilliant but she did give epic movies like jab we met, Omkara, dev, chameli ect and also did box office successes like bodyguard, 3 idiots ect. So just because her recents movies were flop, that doesn't mean her career is over. She can bounce back.

Even many male actors had a lot of flops but we don't say that their career is over. Shahid kapoor had flops from last four years but did anyone ever here say his career is over as much as we say that kareena career is over. And please don't think I hate shahid, I like him a lot but just stating a fact. Why different rules for an actress.

People say that they missed karishma Juhi aish sonali ect and the khans should romance with actresses their age but aren't we are responsible for their exit from the industry, I mean we always look down upon at older actresses.

When an actress gives even 2 flops, we say her career is over but when an actor gives 2 flop we say so what he's gonna bounce back again!

I know Kareena is not number 1 anymore but she's still among the top 5 actresses and she had been in this industry for almost 13 years which is commendable. Just one proper role and she can bounce back again.

Because that's how the audience thinks, everyone seems to be obsessed with youth and that's the truth.

We can complain all we want, but majority of audiences won't change. I hope one day bollywood and audiences learn to appreciate that there are STUNNING women from all age groups that have loads of talent, but due to the audiences and industry's ignorance, we may never get to see any of these talented actresses. It's funny how we as an audience say bollywood has evolved, yet whenever we take 5 steps forward, we take another 3 back.

I think more than the age..Its the marriage factor that is more to do with it..The amount of excitement that can be seen around a Kat or a Deeps now..will not be seen around a Kareena or an Aish or a Madz..despite the fact that these are all way more talented actresses..Married actresses lose that unprecedented charm IMO..Hence the "Career is over" tag comes..

But is it fair. We should judge an actress by their acting talent, not their relation status

Agree and these bolly producers think that Bollywood has become modern but I disagree Hollywood is way way ahead of bolly because they dont judge an actress based on their race, age, relation status and not even so much on looks but the acting talent.

Its definitely not fair..But Unfortunately that is how it is..Or else tell me do you see any reason of Katrina getting all the big banner offers instead of the many other way more talented actresses than her..This thing is only prevelant in Bollywood though..In Hollywood..there is a completely different story..😊

Actually, it is us the audience that is responsible for the attitude taken by most actors, directors and producers. Most audience lose interest in actresses once they are married because we do not want to see them do roles that the unmarried actresses are doing. Not many would want to see a married actress do Katrina's strip tease from Dhoom3. Yet if Katrina were married, it would not make the scene many less sexy than now. Just double standards there.
Even though we have moved strides in technology and science and what not, it is still a patriarchal society in India. Men do not want to see the main and lead actor romance an actress who is married in real life, it is like she is now out of bounds. Listen to Salman's chauvinistic attitude of the actress being some-one's wife. That is the first hurdle that most married actresses face.
The second is that Indian actresses seem to take time off when pregnant, whereas most other places, it is either worked into the script or worked around it. Also, how often do we see our married actresses pregnant and flaunting a belly on the cover of a magazine or on the beach. This break seems to effectively, if unfairly, put a complete brake on the actresses career.
Simply, most of the audience does not accept that a married heroine can be just as or even more effective in movies than the single heroines. We may all talk the talk of them retaining their talent, beauty, sexiness and figures, but how many walk the talk and shell out the greens at the movie theatre, examples, Juhi, Madhuri and Karisma?
There is also the fact that we immediately slate them into "aunty" slots ourselves and make fun of the weight that they pick up during pregnancy without even considering their individual health issues. As women fans and audience, we ourselves are very unforgiving to the actresses - imagine the grit and determination that that it took Aishwariya for her get back into public after the lambasting and insulting for retaining pregnancy weight? We do it on public platforms of letters to magazines, papers and on various internet websites, surely big and highly successful production houses have a PR department with employees that look at things like this specifically.
The sad thing is that we as women deliberately and sometimes viciously sabotage the chances of these actresses ourselves by denigrating them.
