He continued doing those pure action flicks past the point where they stopped working. Now he's doing mindless comedies again when they are not really working for him. Except for the Sajid Khan comedies. If only Sajid hadn't boosted his ego with them.
THIS.
He does WAY too many films per year--a minimum of 3 per year. Last year he had FIVE releases! The Khans have that many releases in about 3 years, Aamir toh in 5+ years. He is overexposed in that sense. So when you have 3-4 releases per year, I guess there's less motivation to go watch am Akki film because hey ...well in 2-3 months another one will be out.
Like Kal-El says, he goes and does the same films over and over and over again until the formula totally fails...and yet he doesn't even
start to change that strategy when the first warning bells appear. He didn't slow the mindless comedies down until he had some 4-5 flops in a row. CCTC should have been warning bell, but he went and did Thank You, TMK types.
It's not like he hasn't gotten
any hype. He got great hype in 2007. 4 back to back hits in one year..they called him "King Kumar" and said SRK was finished, despite him having OSO + CDI the same year. But after Welcome came Tashan, CCTC, KI,
and TMK. The media which had hailed him ripped him apart for those bad films...I mean these weren't just
bad, they were
awful...and commercial disasters to boot. He's rising back up again though. He FINALLY changed his strategy.
He's a really likable and humble guy for the most part. He minds his own business and goes about doing his own thing. As an actor, probably underrated...but his films...yikes. I refused to watch any of them, without glowing audience + critic reviews, after bits of that disaster called Kambakht Ishq. 𤢠So overall, I think he has goodwill as a person, but no goodwill in the types of films he does. In his career, the only film that will make a classics list is Hera Pheri. I guess that 1 doesn't undo the other craps he has churned out. Salman...has huge successes so it's like whatever + Being Human charity = goodwill as a person. SRK seems to ride on his charm now, though his goodwill crashed a lot in the last 2 years. Aamir has tremendous goodwill--Lagaan, RDP, TZP, 3I, and then Satyamev Jayate.
