Why Akshay Kumar could never be as huge as Khans?

Akshay Kumar. Handsome. Tall. Action king. Fitness icon. Good comic timing. Popular (in fact he topples Aamir in popularity most of the times).

He had it going for him with hits like Mohra and Yeh Dillagi. What went wrong with him?

2007 is the only year he came close to toppling Khans and gave back to back hits in a single year. 1994 he was ahead of Aamir & SRK. Last year too he was ahead of Aamir & SRK and next only to Salman.

Why has he never given an ATBB? Why big banners don't really approach him? Why few yearly biggest grossers?

Salman and Aamir could rise up to top despite years of flops/average films. Why only Akshay could never be the TOPmost guy? He's at best managed to overshadow one or two Khans at a time but stay second to other!

He's always "among the top rung" stars but never the defining one. Not even for one or two years (like Aamir was in 2008-2009).

He's never had problems with media or fought with big names or had scandalous controversies (except flings with heroines). So what prevented his rise?

If he does a good film even then he gets ignored (like OMG's being cold shouldered by critics & juries) and doesn't get the "bhaav" which an Aamir/SRK does even if he does one good film.

20 years and no ATBB?

This year his films did more business than Srk and Amir, no?

Yes they did. But my point was why he never had ATBBs or year's biggest grossers? Or attracted big banners?

When a guy's films can do more business than SRK-Aamir films then why can't he deliver the topmost grosser?

Singh Is Kinng was one of the most hyped films ever. Here in USA housefull I could not get a ticket for 2 days. Everyone said he has overtaken Khans...

That's my point. At any given time Akshay Kumar has only been able to topple 2 Khans but gets overshadowed by a third one. What prevents him from toppling all of 'em?
