Thanks for response. But by same logic, what's Aamir's niche? Didn't he do a Ghajini after TZP and a Dhobi Ghat after 3I? Didn't SRK do an OSO after CDI?

I'm curious despite being among the original fitness icons along with Salman & Sanjay Dutt, why he couldn't be poster boy of fitness. At best he has a Khiladi, daredevil, stunts guy kind of image.

He also does a lot of charity, he's also a rank outsider and is a self-made, rags to riches story, he has a stable marriage, has shown off what he does as an ideal son in law, he started his own Karate championship and supports traditional sports like kabaddi in his own ways. He's tried to hype these activities too. Still the goodwill he earned has not been comparable to that of others. I don't understand why!

I've seen he seems to have good fanbase online and in real life. He's this nice guy type who nobody minds but never a top draw.

But SRK has an image of lover boy/King of [outdated] romance, Aamir has the tag of making "good" movies/Mr.Perfectionist tag, which have always helped them sell themselves/movies. Akki on the other hand, does Hera Peri, Khiladi, OMG and shit awful movies. so for every singh is king there is a Thankyou, which leaves the general audience confused... that, to me, explains his lack of "craze" which Khans have.

Also, some of it might be attributed to what you say" a nice guy".. which means "good, average, decent" but nothing like controversy driven Khans that media can write about!

But I am happy.. It helps him stay unpredictable, which means he takes chances and churns out some decent flicks every now and then! Plus, lack of scrutiny means he can remain his funny self without becoming a PR machine. 😆

Edit: Akki has never been on Koffee with Karan😲????? Can someone explain that?

Does controversies really favour box office?

I'm sure once controversies started in Salman's life, his career started sinking yet pulled back up couple of hits in between

I remember the rise of Akshay during 2007...it was claimed that Akshay is gonna soon overtake the Khans but sadly Chandni Chowk to China flopped badly and he again lost his consistency...I am really not sure why he couldn't overshadow the Khans...may be coz the Khans are way too much loved by the audience?? or may be they are over-hyped to some extent? nevertheless, I believe Akshay Kumar is the second most versatile A-lister actor in Bollywood after Ajay Devgan...moreover, barring his earlier casonova image, he is controversy free and also comes across as such a nice person!!

Plus, Akki really doesnt have a strong brand or a image attached to him. He does khildai786 and then a OMG- which leaves me wondering, what his his niche? Action, fitness; in this media savvy world, is associated with Sallu, SRK ( for OSO) and others who crop up everyday.

To me that explains some of his inability to be as big as the Khans and one of the biggest reasons I can tolerate him. The Khans would NEVER do an OMG or have good comic timing as him in Hera Pheri...😳

Dunno about OMG as full credit should be given to Paresh
As comedy Salman and Aamir has greater comedy classic to their name. Their comedy timing is also just as good. There was also Judwaa, Biwi.No.1 and No Entry

Yeah he confuses audience. Does too many films. One or two good, rest all craps. Too bad he never managed to give a year's biggest hit or an ATBB. Even if he bounces back he just gives hits/superhits but never the yearly top grosser or ATBB.

I'm surprised why even in early 90s no big banner took him under their wings despite Mohra and Yeh Dillagi.

It's good he didn't fade away like Sunil Shetty and Sanjay Dutt and is ahead of Ajay.

Yup, thats what surprises me and I cant figure it out. Even now, with YRF working with Salman, Aamir, Akki is never in the consideration.

Hera Pheri is also a cult classic. OMG credit - why should it go only to Paresh? Hasn't Akshay Kumar also produced the film? If Aamir can get credit for films where he's one of the 4-5 actors or comes after interval or if he can get credit even for a film which he just produced but never acted in, then why can't Akshay get any credit for OMG?

Yeah he makes craps but if he's done good work he deserves credit where it's due.
