there's just too much hype around the khans so they always get the most attention from the media and others get ignored.

I think reason he can't be on top is because he is not able to give big back to back hits, if he does then even salman is nothing he can top him too

And were OSO or Ghajini quality films? Or is Dhoom 3 or CE going to be quality/pathbreaking cinema?

I don't think yardsticks should be changed to judge another actor.

Akshay did give back to back hits in 2007. It was a record back then for an actor to give so many consecutive hits in a single year.

But the thing is that even at his peak he gets toppled by some other Khan or Roshan and can't give year's biggest hit or an ATBB. That's what I get curious about! Why does that happen?

I recall there was hooplah in 2005 when his films did more business in USA UK UAE than any Khan

He does way too many films without any regard for the negative impact they might have on his career should they fail. He's also slow to change. He continued doing those pure action flicks past the point where they stopped working. Now he's doing mindless comedies again when they are not really working for him. Except for the Sajid Khan comedies. If only Sajid hadn't boosted his ego with them.

Oh yes Akshay Kumar witnessed a spike in his popularity abroad around 2005 (mainly 2007). Playing NRI, pairing with Katrina, doing shows abroad, catering to Sikh/Punjabi audience, getting better at PR helped him a lot.

Still I don't recall him giving an ATBB or a year's biggest grosser. Toppled Khans in some market, toppled 2 Khans but overall again overshadowed by someone else. That seems to be his story!

Is it because he does way too many films? He come so often that there's no novelty seeing him onscreen? He's overexposed? (Even Ajay is more selective.)
