Anyway interesting topic. I would also say that some of the fans are responsible for that too - go to planetsrk or srk.org and you would know what I mean! I love SRK to death, but I feel like hitting my head on the wall sometimes when I read those girls's posts. Some of SRK fans buys everything he produces and thinks that even the biggest crap is some kind of 8th World Wonder!
Also, I think SRK likes praises and he is scared of working with people who would dare to say "You acted bad in this scene!" or "Your script choice is bad!".
I'm looking forward to CE now, though it's not exactly my cup of tea. but there is a little hope in the bottom of my heart that this time it will be different, better SRK.
I've heard Deepa Mehta would like to work with SRK. Imagine if these two worked together. But Im sure that SRK would reject the offer and did some crap with KJo or Farah instead.

But I still love him & wait for the day he will impress me again. I still believe it will happen.

Yaar! Where do you guys take it? It's not to belittle SRK. As an achiever in all fields SRK has no equal. But I just wanted to discuss ONE aspect!

A star of his proportion should have it very easy to attract audience. Overseas collections do count. It's not like they're ignored completely. And a film is not declared ATBB on basis of one section.

Also, HAHK, DDLJ, 3I, ETT did well both in India and abroad so why is SRK being unable to give a film which makes huge money both India and overseas?

All films are not masala. 3I was not a masala film.

It is not necessary but why shouldn't "King" be able to give a hit which redefines box office business, topples existing predictions and sets new records?

It's been 11 years since he gave his last ATBB.

BTW, I agree with others on point of over-exposure.

Your point about fanatics is so true! But nowadays all fans have begun to do that. Salman fans rarely give him feedback to do slightly better films (I mean even a Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge was an entertainer yet it had some content unlike an utterly mindless Ready). Aamir fans also call any film quality (be it Dhobi Ghat or Dhoom). SRK fans are actually most devoted and defensive. But he got feedback from public in case of Ra One. He should have taken it seriously (I hope he did and it reflects in his next films).

Raju Hirani, Vishal Bharadwaj, S. Shankar, SS Rajamouli, AR Murugadoss all wanted to work with him. But he stuck to friends and coterie. Maybe new directors would have presented him in a different avatar in a commercially viable film too. It's nice he's chosen Rohit Shetty now. He should give something different.

If we are most devoted and defensive then his collections should reach the sky. As people say Ra.One was crap and it deserved what it got. But Ready was a BB despite being crap. We know when to criticize him and not!(:

I like SRK,but he lost me as a viewer after films like Devdas, KANK and MNIK. I was horrified by KANK that I didn't watch his movie until Don2.

I don't understand the dynamics of what makes a film ATBB, power to the people who pick and reject films. Now the hype is Sallu and IMO Indian audience is a bandwagon audience.
