Subhash Ghai is upset
Jaspreet NijherJaspreet Nijher, TNN | Jun 6, 2011, 11.55am IST"Everyone wants masala today. So, they ask, 'Who are the stars (read big names), in your film'. But tell me, why do we need stars in a good film? We need a good story to make a hit film, not stars," blasts Ghai who is all set to once again direct a film after a gap of several years. Though Ghai doesn't want to talk at length right now about his directorial venture, sources say Salman Khan maybe on his cast list for the film that'll be ready by next year and in Ghai's words will be a typical, "commercial, masala film which will have both mass and class."
However, at this point Ghai doesn't spare Salman either from his barbs as he goes on to add, "Why does Salman need to publicize "Ready" so much? Because he knows, warna picture challegi nahin. A good story that touches the audiences' heart and rattles your mind doesn't need any stars or publicity," he says, "People are tired of the same old story lines, clichd concepts. That's why films with big starry lineup also flop, while those with budding actors also do well."
The showman is also clear about the fact that in contemporary times actors aren't born, instead, they are created by learning the art of acting. And if you tell him, in previous times none of the superstars went through acting schools, he retorts, "In my childhood days, my grandfather was rich but illiterate. Tell me one such person in today's world who is not educated but rich?"
