Actor Nehal Vadoliya has come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against filmmaker Subhash Ghai, claiming that he behaved inappropriately with her during a private meeting at his residence. The incident, which Vadoliya says took place in the presence of her then-boyfriend, has prompted a sharp rebuttal from Ghai, who has threatened to pursue legal action over what he describes as a "defamatory attempt" to damage his reputation.
Vadoliya, known for her work in adult-themed digital shows such as Gandii Baat and Dunali, shared her account during an interview, stating that she visited Ghai’s home accompanied by her boyfriend, who was working closely with the filmmaker at the time. According to her, drinks were served during the evening, and though she had already consumed alcohol, Ghai insisted she drink more.
She recounted a moment when she briefly stepped into a room that had an attached washroom. On returning, she found Ghai inside the room. What happened next, she said, made her deeply uncomfortable. “He came very close. His eyes were shut. His lips touched my cheek when I moved away,” she said, adding that she later told her boyfriend she believed he had attempted to kiss her on the lips.
Vadoliya also alleged that Ghai made comments about her appearance in front of her partner, calling her “very sexy” and praising her laugh in a way that made her feel uneasy.
Explaining why she didn’t go to the police, Vadoliya said she was overwhelmed by what had happened and unable to process it. “I was in shock. Going to the police never even crossed my mind,” she said.
Ghai, meanwhile, has denied the claims outright. In a public statement, he said he and his legal team are prepared to respond strongly to what he calls false and damaging accusations. “Anyone attempting to malign my image or the integrity of my company through baseless allegations will face legal consequences,” he said.
He further criticised the decision to air such allegations on public platforms instead of approaching the authorities. “If someone feels genuinely wronged, the right way is through legal channels. Using social media to spread such claims is misleading and legally questionable,” he added.
