Kajra re (Bunty aur Babli)
You have to be living in a parallel universe if you haven't heard this song. Be it a rickshaw, a barbershop or the most happening club in the city, Kajra Re is the undisputed anthem of 2005. The song not only succeeded in melting the ice queen tag from Aishwarya (as she sizzled in sexiest ensemble ever) but also resurrected Alisha Chinai's career.
Voh lamhe, voh baatein (Zeher)
DJ Suketu brought down the house with his remix of the club killer sung by Atif. Originally sung by the Pakistani soft rock band, Jal, Lamhe proved that a good melody meshed with foot-tapping electronica can take any song to new heights.
The song proved to have more shelf life than the film, and Emraan took home the tag of being the lucky actor who gets hit songs in every film.
Aashiq banaya aapne (Aashiq Banaya Aapne)
Is it Kumar Sanu? Is it Babul Supriyo, or Abhijeet Sawant experimenting with his vocal chords? These were some of the questions asked when this Emraan Hashmi starrer's title track went on air. The suspense was revealed when Himesh Reshammiya (also the music director) took credit for singing one of the most soulful tunes of this year.
The Sufi-inspired number also had a smashing remix to accompany it. The Himesh-Emraan combo is all set to rock the charts in the coming year as well.
Ishq di galli (No Entry)
One of this year's biggest hits also delivered this year's catchiest fun song. This racy number gave Alisha Chinai her second big hit after Kajra Re.
The song, shot on Bipasha Basu, was not only melodious, but also proved to be good eye-candy. Anu Malik went back to his flamboyant style of delivering a mindless, yet entertaining song.
Dus Bahane (Dus)
One of the most-played songs on television this year, Dus Bahane scored big time with youngsters as well as adults.
Abhishek and Zayed's hand-clapping-and-bouncing routine gave the song its look. Don't forget to include this one in your list of must-plays on New Year's Eve.
Kaal dhamaal (Kaal)
Shah Rukh's only hit song came from a movie he didn't even act in. With always-bankable item girl Malaika Arora Khan by his side, SRK sizzled to the title track of Kaal.
Even though his yuppie dressing didn't go down too well with King Khan's image, the song proved an instant hit.
Just Chill (Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya)
The phrase "just chill" got a whole new meaning with this instant smash from Salman-Katrina flick, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya.
Amazingly infectious, catchy and full of beats, the song was one of the most requested Bollywood tracks at every party. Balancing a good melody, mixed with youthful lyrics, Just chill continues to be the theme song for anyone who wants to have a good time.
Right Here Right Now (Bluffmaster!)
This song came at the fag end of the year but it's definitely here to stay. Looks like the hip-hop influence in Bolly tunes is here to stay.
Choreographed brilliantly by Farah Khan. This song filmed on Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra kicks ass. Now there is a dhol mix of the song being played at the clubs as well. We know it gets us on our feet every time we hear it.
