You don't need to look for loopholes - pretty much everyone who walked out of the theatre I was at (which was mostly empty) was saying "Haven't they ever heard of calling the police?" If I don't like a movie - I criticise it. Simple as that. I watched the movie and I didn't enjoy it.

Why compare it with New York? Because maybe the premise is nearly identical. Its bound to come up.

People actually go and watch the movie only because they want to know if it's better than New York. If you've already seen New York and you liked it then you prefering Kurbaan over that looks impossible. It's simple.
I am not saying this is the best movie of the year etc etc. I truly wish Kareena gets the award this year for the movie though but nothing more than that.

Performances wise, Kareena was only good in the second half in some of her scenes. First half was too over the top and she overacted for most part.
Saif was below average to average. Not once you see his pain. Even John (who is considered wooden) was better.
Vivek is good in some scenes and in the others, he overacted especially the ones where he talks in English. Honestly, it would have been better if he had no accent. It was overdone, and overdone usually translates to overkill.
Movie had nothing special. What was so intelligent about the movie? Was it the fact that Karan who mostly churns out candieflosses was making a serious film for the first time? Or was it the theme? Problem is neither Rensil nor Karan and for that matter, even Saif are familiar with Islam or it's fundamentals, so how were they supposed to portray it in the correct sense. Only sensible character in the movie was Vivek.
Comparisons are obvious and will be made always. Critics, well, I have to say are easily pleased with anything that is remotely 'different'. I have never trusted the critics and I don't think I ever will in future.
It's better to watch the documenteries they have on such subjects. The movie offers nothing.

This reminds me, wasn't the tagline that it is supposed to be a love story in a terrorism background. Where was the love story? Avantika is supposed to be a college professor and she goes out with the first 'cute' (supposedly) guy that asks her out. So much for an intelligent character.
Nobody once asks for police helps. Finally, when the FBI are called, they all turned out to be silly fools who are not even familiar with any protocols whatsoever.
All in all, it's a blah movie.

🤣

hmmm.....i kinda of liked the movie....it was ok...... but yes the second part was boring and very predictable......another loophole was the intimate scene of saif and kareena......i mean that scene had no importance in movie....it looked as if it was forced in to the movie.....if they had this scene immediately after their marriage it would have still be understood but just to get info of saif 's plan kareena has sex with him...please what's the logic behind it and they over publicized the scene so much that the it created an impression in audience mind that the movie is not for family viewing......and last but not the least Kurbaan was the most abruptly ended movie i have ever seen...atleast they should have given a proper ending to the movie.........

I dont see how they are different? What was different?
Kurbaan was supposed to be a different one going by Rensils msg. Infact, I liked Kareenas words MUCH more approriate and better in I think her Beautiful Peoples interview that this was a movie with Terrorism as a Backdrop or something like that. If only she said it before the movie. They put out a completely different view of wat Kurbaan is about. And going by how the movie was it was ONLY about Terrorism. So yes, it covered the terrorism topic but it ONLY covered that Taify, not the msg, not any other thing!

After watching this movie I now believe that the production houses pay critics to write good reviews.
This had almost 99% great reviews - not even good from the critics. If they just liked the acting they could have just said that. They praised the movie so high and built up such high expectations it is ridiculous. Even that much touted "scene" between Saif and Kareena which was deemed so important to the story line was pathetic - they could have easily done away with it.
What is so path breaking about this movie ? I failed to see it.
IMO if they had promoted it as just another Bollywood movie it would have worked much better.

^There are only 2 reviewers I trust now - Baradwaj Rangan and Anupama Chopra - the only ones who criticised this film. But I never believe Taran Adarsh, Omar Qureshi and TOI and most other critics. Taran Adarsh especially seems like someone who gives out reviews based on how much cash he got in return. He gave Blue 4 stars. There really is no logic in his reviews.

@qwww:-- Exactly. I wrote all those points in my review as well. Specially that if its get 3, maybe for the performances but if 4/4.5 then def. Karan paid these critics. I love my review on Kurbaan LOL! Has to be my best on a film and I wrote it that long maybe cause I had some expectations from the movie but it went down the drains as the movie progressed.
