Coming to Kurbaan, yes I was dissapointed too. A film which tackles such serious issues cannot afford to have so many loopholes in the script. I just couldn't digest those loopholes and hence, the film wasnt an enjoyable experience for me. Furthermore, although I did like saif and kareena's performances, it did seem like they were trying too hard and I couldn't feel the chemistry between them. Something about them in the film just didnt click for me which was another let-down again.
I agree with the fact that Kurbaan was wrongly promoted. Especially promoting the intimate scenes over and over again in promos puts off a section of the audience. plus..the audience always looks for more light-hearted entertainment than a dark and stark film unless its fantastically made such as A Wednesday or Mumbai Meri Jaan or Dev D. I mean, if people had to chose between a mediocre comedy and a mediocre thriller, a lot would go for the comedy because people are looking for escapist cinema. Moreover, the fact tht kurbaan was based on terrorism was another drawback because people seem to be so sick and tired of watching this theme....
anywayz....I always think a good film will do well....critics reviews do matter because lets face it...half the publicity of a film like A wednesday is good word of mouth rather than television promos...and so, people do go for it if a movie is rated well...but with kurbaan, i guess people were feeling the bad vibes rite from the first promo...which was why they didnt bother....oh and therz a HUGE section of the audience who are KJO haters...so tht might have been a reason too..
