@vedant123: What kind of a conservative family is fine with seeing their daughter doing item numbers to earn a living? I have no problem with it personally but then why is that fine and not conservative but participating in a pooja is crossing some sort of line? :/

They weren't even fine with that thing, but Gauhar went all way to it and were able to convince them! Besides that as members are saying... Muslims are allowed to respect other religion but not participate in prayers! If you have seen video, Gauhar was very much there standing and giving Respect to god but wasnt in any sort of prayers! Neither you are a Muslim, neither I am - so we actually don't exactly know how it works out there!

According to me Gauhar did nothing wrong ! She wasn't disrespecting the culture/ religion ! She was very much present there and giving respect by wearing the right type of clothes she just didn't perform it ! I wonder how is this disrespecting ? If u had seen her sitting in the house and sleeping or doing whatever she likes while the pooja is performed outside then that's what u call disrespecting a religion not the other way round !

I can speak for my religion.
In Islam, we are taught to respect all the PEOPLE who are from different religions and NOT FORCE them to follow Islam by any means.
Our Prophet (SM) always respected and loved people from other beliefs.
Enjoying in other religious events is NOT disrespecting Islam. But performing other religion's rituals are Shirk according to Islam.

😊 perfectly sumarize 👏

first of all i would like to say that i respect all religions and this is just my pov

if i am not mistaken, a few years ago, a fatwa was released against salman khan as he had taken part in a prayer with his mom as his mom is hindu.
im not sure, but i think that islam does not allow for muslims to pray to idols. (pls correct me if im wrong)
so, in order to avoid the controversy that would have taken place had she participated in the puja, she decided to stay away. i honestly dont see anything wrong in that, as she is not offending anyone. had she said something bad abt the puja then that would not have been right. taking part or not is her personal decision and we should not question that imo.

pls let me noe what u guys think! this discussion can definitely take place without hurting the sentiments of any religion! :)

I believe religion is your personal belief..not what is written in some book or something..I have a Muslim partner whom I m dating since the last 10 years and we will marry by the end of next year..Neither of us will change our religions or do something offensive!! Instead I will take part in Eid and she in Durga Puja...tell me are we doing wrong or offending our religions??
As per idolatry its banned in most religions..I see nothing wrong in that but praying to God can DEFINITELY not be against any religion..thats a simple logic!!!

I m a Hindu.. for me secularism doesn't mean u get all offended when someone sayz a thing about ur religion and u get all happy and enthusiastic when itz about other religion... for me secularism is u respect the differences between ur and other religion... u respect others faith even if u don't believe it 0.1 %..
the clip that was shown Gauhar standing on one side implies she respects their faith by dressing up even if she is a non-believer.. dis is my take on it... and we should respect it and not create a debate about it.. i really dont get y der is so much chaos between the differences and y is der a strong urge to prove my religion is better then urs.. d bottom line is all religion teaches 3 basic thing love compassion humanity 😊
