In Islam we are told to respect other religions and there is no doubt about that.
I will respect all the religions, I will let them do what they want but I won't participate because that will contradict in what I believe in.
We Muslims strongly believe in one God, who's image we can't think of and we don't worship idols. So how can I participate in something that is against what I believe in. If my friend have to do Puja or something related, i will let them do what they want and won't say something negative about it .
We Muslims have to pray five times a day and just because I pray , will I expect my non Muslim friend to pray with me just to show she is respecting my religion. Of course, they won't. the fact they wait side ways and let me finish my prayers, proves to me they respect my religion.

I have nothing against anyone, but I felt like I should explain a persons behavior to you especially when I understand why they did that.

I would like to put it out to you, religion changes its form owing to the modern world. Just ages ago wearing burkha for a muslim woman was most essential in almost every part of the world. But now owing it to the changes taking place in the modern world, many women prefer not wear it. In any sense it doesn't make one disrespectful of their religion. Above all change is the only thing which is uniform. Even if you take for hindu religion, sati, child marriage etc are banned as they were considered social evils. But if you trace back to just 2-3 centuries back, they were the core values of hindu religion of Rajputana and other parts of India. See, changes are constant even in something as sacred as religion, we adopt according to our wishes. Be it being conservative or not, is your call, but restricting everyone on the basis of some old beliefs is uncalled for.

After all these all are human created beliefs and customs!

But I don't get it, Kushal didn't join them, what about him? Why didn't you state that, just because she's a Muslim? it's upto gauhar what she wants to do.

Whatever Gauhar does is in between her and allah, we r no one to judge her.
Secondly, Islam says tht we as humans should ONLY bow down in front of Allah and should Worship him alone.
Creating partners with Allah is shirk, an unpardonable sin.
