@ Aparna well said:
If not thinking beyond her family makes her bad then it is just too bad
I think this lines explains all about Sumitra's behaviour. Beyond which she may be liked or disliked by some and that could be an individual opinion.

well its not about sumitra being bad or good!
we all agree that her thinking is right for her family but her behavior towards ganga is not correct
and if it is about the family...she knows very well what her hubby & son think about ganga...her fears ofcourse are not unfounded but singhs have other enemies as well...jagya was right when he compared ganga with anandi and sugna...how can you allow a young woman with an infant kid leaving in the middle of night. 😡
family also means respecting other people's opinions like the hubby & son! fine sumitra didn't bring ganga on her responsibility, but her son did and her husband has supported it.

Sumitra is not just as ordinary woman. In a world of average people! like Anandi, Sumitra is larger than life. She became thus when she went above and beyond in supporting Anandi. In reality, which MIL would do that. She has been put on a pedestal because of such support therefore we hold her to a higher standard. That's my opinion.

Again the comparison to Anandi and Sugna was NOT for FORCING her to like or accept a person whom she insists on keeping at stranger status. It was to make her think from an insaniyat point of view. Again, would she let any of her FAMILY girls leave in the middle of the night with an infant. NO. So why be so unprincipled with another just because she is not family. What happened to her humanity.

Sumitra is the catalyst for Ganga leaving. When Dadisa asked her to rethink her decision, Ganga glanced at Sumitra who practically glared her down, silently willing her to leave. If Sumitra uttered even one word, Ganga would have waited for morning. That is why. No matter what the other 3 said or didn't say, she paid no heed to it. Sumitra has been bullying her and she finally gave in and left.

Sumitra is right from her perspective. From the beginning, the Ganga track was depicted unrealistically in the serial when they showed Ganga being given a place to stay with the Singhs. The Singh family has always encouraged Anandi when she helped out people like Phooli and Gulli, but they did not bring any of them home. Ganga should have been shifted to an Ashram at the very beginning, or given accommodation like Gulli.

Sumitra was kind and receptive of Ganga in the beginning. She used to be shown holding Mannu and taking care of him.

The way the other Singhs were repeatedly comparing Ganga with Anandi was again unrealistic, which began to annoy Sumitra.

And after knowing that Ratan was behind the attack, Ganga should have made plans to leave the haveli. She should have voiced her fears to Bhairon and Dadi sa, and they would have helped her shift elsewhere until she could join the nursing course safely. Instead she spent her time planning birthday parties, baking cakes, dancing and competing for Jagya's attention, and then weeping over him.

She cannot be blamed for getting attracted to Jagya but her intense emotions for her benefactor seem weird when she first needs to ensure her and her child's safefty and also get closure from her forced relationship with Ratan - either way, the law would have granted her divorce and custody of the kid. If the creatives had shown Ganga getting a divorce, studying and moving on and very gradually developing feelings for Jagya - , it would have been more realistic and acceptable. Now the story is a mess.

Ganga is being highlighted as a suitable partner for Jagya when compared to Sanchi who is a scheming brat. What if the Singhs had found a really suitable rishta for Jagya - a girl who was good, gentle and well mannered (she may or may not be a divorcee / widow), and would have been compatible with Jagya's lifestyle and goals?

Sumitra's fears were grounded in reality, and she had clearly expressed her concerns to Bhairon. It was sad to see her berated so harshly by both her husband and son for the sake of a third person to whom the whole family had been charitable. Of course, letting Ganga go in the middle of the night was not correct. They should have asked her to wait till Jagya and Bhairon arrived, and after a joint discussion helped Ganga to leave the next morning to a safe place from where she can go for her nursing course. That would have been characteristic of the charitable and humanitarian nature of the Singhs (characteristic as in based upon their kindness to Phooli, Gulli etc).

@bold agree completely. The Ganga track was developed unrealistically. (Ganga was brought as a future wife of Jagya by the creatives and I think viewers also think that Ganga is suitable partner for Jagya than Sanchi). So, it would have been better if they arranged for some shelter or a separate home for Ganga, from there they could have developed J-G love story and then marriage. In the present context Sumi's fears are correct, her behaviour with Ganga recently was wrong (that is brought to add kitchen politics). It was strange that there was no effect of Rat attack on any member (except for fear of Nandu), otherwise at least three members of the family (Bhairo, Jagya and Gahna) would have been in hospital now. So expecting anything from this track is foolish. Sumi will be the villain till Jagya's marriage or may be even later and Bhairo and DS will not think rationally as far as this subject is concerned.

sumi talking at once about ganga to put in mahila ashram is not right because it is singh family who brought ganga to haveli .now if if singh family started saying at once c now u have to shift in mahila aashram it does not look nice because by this they r telling indirectly telling ganga v have did big mistake in keeping u in haveli and because of u v cannot risk our family members and this can lead ganga in shock and dissapointed because till now they themseves make ganga feel that this like ur home and then suddenly they make feel ganga that u r responsible for putting our family life in danger .so why to make ganga dissapointed and shock .so by asking ganga to put on mahila ashram sumi does not care about ganga shock dissapoint ment so sumi is wrong

instead of asking at once to put ganga in mahila ashram if sumi had ask bhairon to tell police that ratan can harm our family too so they should find ratan soon then this sumi concern look nice

She is not thinking on her own!! She is influenced by Sanchi (her may be DIL)!! She used to support what was right.. Letting Ganga go @ night was not her character!

Thinking for her family isn't bad, but letting a young girl go away on a rainy night with a kid in hand was very very wrong. I understand she's not anandi or Sugna, But she could've definitely considered her as young girl, which is humanity. Won't you do let strangers stand in your house for shelter in rain?? Has she ever gave a thought on it? Jagya comparison was very much right. If it was Anandi or Sugna would she let them go in rain with a kid?? Sugna was pregnant when she married Shyam. and Anandi was a divorcee. Sumitra has seen her gals suffer a lot. And when she finds Ganga who'd suffered more than them, can't she pity her. i accept that she did gave shelter to her, but after that did she ever consider Ganga a nice gal? The answer is no. She found faults and despiced her. When Sumitra found Sanchi cute, How come she is blind to Ganga's goodness??

Sumitra is a doll and the key to the doll is Sanchi..She is the one who is screwing Sumitra against Ganga. Otherwise sumitra is a caring and lovable person in nature.
