Mohit Suri and YRF producer Akshaye Widhani joined forces for Saiyaara, which introduced Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda to audiences. The film, a musical romantic drama, became a major talking point and a box office hit. Even months after its theatrical release, Saiyaara continues to spark discussion. Now, reports suggest that the director and the studio are set to collaborate again on a new project in a similar genre.
According to Pinkvilla, a source revealed, “After the historic success of Saiyaara, Mohit Suri and Yash Raj Films are reuniting for the second time. Mohit was flooded with offers from across the industry, with producers willing to splurge pay cheques of unheard-of amounts. However, Mohit and YRF are continuing their creative partnership, capitalising on the success of Saiyaara.”
The source added that the screenplay for the new film has been locked. “Mohit Suri and YRF are committed to recreating magic on the big screen. It’s another sweeping romantic film that will explore a brand-new world in this genre. Like Saiyaara, Mohit Suri will again make this a musical saga. Mohit and Akshaye are focused on bringing love stories back into conversation among audiences, and Aditya Chopra is also keen to explore this genre further,” they said.
Saiyaara, loosely inspired by the 2004 Korean film A Moment to Remember, released theatrically on July 18, 2025. Critics praised the performances of Panday and Padda, Suri’s direction, the story, and the soundtrack. The film grossed over Rs 577 crore worldwide, becoming the second-highest-grossing Hindi film and the highest-grossing Indian romantic film of the year.
After its theatre run, the film streamed on Netflix, where it achieved another milestone. Within five days, Saiyaara became the most-watched non-English film globally on the platform, a rare achievement for an Indian romantic drama.
Given this success, expectations are already high for Mohit Suri and YRF’s next musical love story, with audiences eager to see if the duo can repeat their box office magic.
